A week ago, Garrison Keillor wrote an article (for the New Yorker, I think) that it would be “absurd” for Al Franken to resign based on “participating in low comedy”. Garrison is a very liberal entertainer who made a fortune “gently chiding” we boring people in the Midwest, but he has discovered that Liberals have no real friends. To hear him tell this, it was one accidental incident that he apologized for, was forgiven for, and disappeared...until the lawyers called him years later. But giving a pass to Bill Clinton won’t save you these days, GK.

This may be a shakedown. Or this may be true. If this is the only incident...it just put his media empire in shambles. The reruns are now dropped by NPR, the “new” PHC show will be renamed (not that it had much in common with the real Prairie Home Companion but the abbreviated name) and just TRY unloading all the memorabilia now.

It would be hard to imagine who benefits from this. You would think if he were guilty, legal extortion would have come long before this. But who would lie about this old coot? Only months ago, the press giggled about Vice-President Pence’s stern rule about never eating a meal with a female unless his wife was present. “Ho, Ho!” the pundits cried, “what a foolish old prude!” Well, based on the rate with which entertainment icons are falling these days...looks like being both innocent and cautious is a pretty good defense.

I imagine this is a bitter lesson for Garrison, after all the low punches at Trump locker room talk, that when the Vox Populi speak...the mob can cut you off at the knees, no matter if you are America’s Beloved Storyteller.

The “coot” looks like he got a tad fresh.

But that doesn’t appear to be the worst problem. The worst problem is the petard that the libbies built. They left no choice but to be hoist on it. If they hadn’t been trying so hard to push this kind of filth on their political rivals, then Keillor might have come out okay.

... because Keillor committed a worse sin than getting fresh.

HE PATRONIZED HER.

Omg. Throw him in the oubliette for that one.
