Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) are demanding that the tax reform bill include a trigger that automatically raises taxes in the future if tax receipts fall below projections.
This is a bad idea. Raising taxes is never a good policy, but this provision also adds complexity and uncertainty to the tax code that will limit its impact on economic growth.
Bob Corker and Jeff Flake want people to believe they're concerned about the deficit, but if that were true they would not have supported so many bills to increase the debt limit and increase spending.
If there is going to be a budget trigger, shouldn't it automatically cut spending which is the real problem in Washington?
The tax trigger should be rejected and the tax rates in the bill for individuals should be lowered so no American, regardless of where they live, has to pay higher taxes.
As we mentioned before, we also believe that any side deal to allow for the passage of health insurance company bailouts should be categorically rejected. This is something Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised the moderates in the Senate and it's a bad idea.
The only way to make health coverage more affordable is to repeal Obamacare's benefit mandates, which have forced Americans to buy things they don't want...
Even better: require every aspect of the tax code to be periodically reauthorized by specific vote or it sunsets and the taxes go away.
RINO’s are going to be the death of that Party.
And so it begins.
It will be interesting to note who in the GOP comes out to blast Corker and Flake for insisting on a tricky maneuver to raise taxes. My guess is nobody will. And that tells you more than their fake votes will.
These 2 cretins obviously hate their country. They should be booted out. Don’t wait for their retirement.
Flakey fake Republicans trying to put a poison pill into the tax bill.
I would suggest a spending cut trigger. Reverse the stream, now the default is, we cannot agree so we will spend. Make it law that if we cannot agree, the cuts are automatic. Add a rider that any automatic cuts have to be an equal percentage of all budgets and stop the foolishness of creating artificial pain points.
More like we need a Trigger Lock, to prevent a Corker or Flake from raising taxes.
How about a balanced budget trigger?
Meaning that the government cannot spend more than it takes in, and can’t just jack up the tax rates so they can spend more.
Just like millions of taxpaying Americans have to do to make ends meet.
Then DON'T SPEND IT you fruit-loopy bungholes!
They are spoilers who hate Trump, don’t want him to succeed and will do ANYTHING short of suicide to screw him up.
The Market will respond negatively to a threat of future tax increases, foiling the anticipated result of cuts and these clown know it.
True reform awaits much Cantorization.
Alexander, Corker, Flake, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Gardner, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst, Lankford, Young, Boozman and Shelby are all undocumented Democrats in R jerseys.
No triggers.
But raise import tariffs and use them to offset tax cuts.
These two should have been gone long ago, they’re determined to go out doing all the damage they possibly can along with McCain.
Bad idea, but take it if necessary rather than no deal.
It could b repealed separately in future.
Aren’t both of these RINO’s on their way out? Good riddance.
I recommend a Cut Stupid Spending Trigger.
Yep, we need common sense, comprehensive Spending Control.
