‘Ballistic’ essentially means ‘un-guided’. When you launch it, you have no more control over where it goes.

It’s opposite would be a ‘Guided Missile’ like with radio, radar, laser, wire, GPS, Map Memory, infra-red or optics, that guide it to its intended target.

Good point Pappy. Missiles that are powered through most of their flight are not ballistic.

Ballistic missiles boost for a while and then coast ‘ballisticly’ for most of their flight.

Ballistic is the term when a missile hits its apogee, it continues moving without being powered.

Just about all projectiles are ballistic in nature.

Kinda but not quite. A lot of ballistic missiles have guided reentry vehicles. Even artillery shells can be guided, but since they aren’t under power for most of their flight they are still ballistic.

Shoot the damn things down. Every one they launch . Every one is a clear and present threat , every one should be considered a legitimate self defense TARGET .

Yes! That's what I have been saying for a long time. It serves several purposes

1) shows fat boy that his weapons program is futile

2) humiliates fat boy, and most importantly,

3) discourages other NK wannabe rogue nations from squandering their resources on these types of weapons programs

I have to wonder : what ‘generals and admirals’ are telling the President “ oh! we can’t shoot them down ! It could start a war !” I am SURE he is asking ....
During his election campaigning President Trump talked a lot about finding a new MacArthur or Patton . Yet he has kept the same cautious career oriented gentlemen .
What President Trump needs is a new General Curtis LeMay .
