... When parents are deported, children suffer. This is true for children who remain in the United States, separated from their deported parent(s), and for those who leave the country in order to preserve the familys unity. Many go back and forth, interrupting their educational progress and the development of social attachments.
Luis Zayas, dean and professor of social work at the University of Texas, Austin, has studied the mental health consequences facing children whose parents have been deported. His research has found that children who remain in the United States after a parent is deported experience depression, possible conduct disorders, and a constant sense of a diminishing and ambiguous future because deportation undermines childrens fundamental attachments to the adults they rely on for love, guidance, support and care. In addition, Zayas has found that those who leave their homeland to follow a deported parent display signs of depression and may lose their sense of national identity as Americans, a poignant loss that even maintaining citizenship cannot prevent.
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights has criticized U.S. immigration policy, concluding that it violates childrens rights to family unity and is inconsistent with protecting the best interests of children. As Congress considers the future of immigration policy, it would do well to focus on the broad population of children and youth whose lives are touched by deportation, and to do a better job of protecting family unity and honoring the best interests of the countrys children.

I couldn’t care less.
“Beth Caldwell is a professor at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, where much of her research focuses on juvenile justice. She is a former public defender and advocate for youth.”
Think she tithes AND give another 10% to the kids she ‘advocates’ for ?
Ask Mr.Slim or Mr.None....
In TX, American children suffer when forced to attend school with hundreds of children of illegal aliens who are illiterate in two languages, who are molested by illegal aliens, and who are killed in car accidents caused by drunk illegal aliens.
Children suffer when a parent is sent to prison. Children suffer when parents divorce. Children suffer when a parent dies. Children suffer when a parent is abusive. Children suffer when a parent is somebody like Al Franken or John Conyers.
*** “I bet any guy that might have a relationship with this loon suffers” ***
Depends on what the Rental Rate is and if Dinner is involved (if she is Vegan).
The headline was written by Captain Obvious.
If you don’t want your kids to suffer, don’t be an illegal alien.
Maybe parents should consider the consequences before they break into another country.
Enforce the laws.
No other law breaker gets a pass because of the effect on their children.
Keep the family together, remove them all.
OH PLEASE...send them ALL back. We love them. They have grand fathers, uncles, cousins and aunts. NOTHING on Earth like the Gran Familia Mexicana. Really..I live in Mexico. We welcome DREAMERS with their skills, their no how they could bake a LOT Of money..and live wealthy. Lots of families have been torn apart. Come on back to home..all of you. Mexico has changed, and isn’t like it was when you left. Honest.
How about children are put in jeopardy when their parent(s) decide to sneak across the border illegally.
(I think she finished at Loyola. also in LA)
Bingo1 Even if the child is yet unborn. The authorities should take that abuse into consideration when the illegal entrant is considered for any kind of residency. Notice of such should be posted along the border.
The question ought to be: Will this applicant tend to be a good citizen? Child abuse suggests otherwise.
My mental health is affected because they are destroying my country.

Hey Beth, when do you move to Caborca? How do you feel about living in a country where Los Zetas will kidnap you and use you for a mattress since you’re a Blondina Gringa?
This “problem” is a creation of the parents.
It is NOT for the U.S. gov’t to solve.
The Constitution does not provide a gov’t solution for every heart tugging problem in life.
OK by me - they belong with their parents in their real homeland. And don't worry, we won't bill you for your free education and all the welfare benefits your parents collected for you.
Perfect answer. The parent made the child suffer by coming in illegally. So the parent should be jailed for child abuse. Much simpler just to deport parent and child together. Why should we be made to feel responsible for the irresponsible actions of criminal illegal aliens? Should we also be made responsible for the actions of ISIS bombers who blow up their own children by strapping bombs on them; I mean, where does this blame game stop? Children are suffering around the world, and I'm tired of leftists twisting words to deflect blame onto us.
Decent parents would spare their children the trauma of deportation. Move home before ICE shows up!
The children of unemployed U. S. Citizens suffer, when their parents can’t find work, or have their wages forced down by foreign nationals willing to live three families to a single family dwelling competing with them.
Send those here illegally home!
