The four young men had just started their marijuana harvest in rural Northern California when a dozen sheriff's deputies swooped in with guns drawn, arrested them and spent the day chopping down 150 bushy plants with machetes.
"I could do this every day if I had the personnel," Calaveras County Sheriff Rick DiBasilio said during the operation near the Sierra Nevada foothills town of Copperopolis, about two hours east of San Francisco.

"I'll see you next year," Lee said.
Fine we will arrest you again at that time.
Why not just arrest planet earth?
You can smell it almost everywhere now.
I guess we could just shoot the Cartel members we find out in the local woods but that would not be PC

Hunting accidents happen all the time. It’s a damn shame.
It stinks worse than pig farms. It’s like having skunk roadkill all over your neighborhood
Yep. It stinks everywhere. Also, the idea that people who flout the law and several who do some very nasty things (a woman in Humbolt was killing her workers) are going to straighten up and fly right is insane. I have a law enforcement friend in CO and he say 60-80% of the “legal” drug businesses are money laundering venture for the Mexican drug cartel.
“It stinks worse than pig farms.”
And it’s horrible for the environment. Even Liberals admit it: http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2014/03/marijuana-weed-pot-farming-environmental-impacts/
This is not half of the Story, it has destroyed our County
I had an office in a building in San Francisco when the first “medical” marijuana dispensaries opened up in the ‘90s. I could tell by the riff raff coming too and fro daily that is was the same old dime bag drug dealers doing “legal” business. What a scam.
.
Marijuana grows have destroyed the area where our ranch is in Jupiter, Tuolumne Co.

We live in rural Southern Oregon. About as conservative a place as you can find, despite the bad reputation of Portland and Eugene.
We have dealt with legal pot grows for a couple of years now, and the bottom line is: “no big deal”. And the local economy has perked up substantially. Now I expect that to subside in a little while when the price comes down to earth, but it is not the disaster people make it out to be.
Maybe our laws are better — something other communities should look into.
Six years ago, I entered a Florida bank from the rear parking lot. On the outside steps, an employee was taking a “marijuana break”. Was this wise of bank officials to permit something so blatantly wrongand at a place where accuracy should “count”?
What arrest farmers, enslave them and steal their property? Thank God you don't!
If the drug nazis would find gainful productive employment elsewhere and let people grow their own the price would come down to free.
Why would you buy what you can grow for free?
I have pigs and the grows out smell them
little Jeremiah would take exception to your comments. Granted, his problems are with illegal growers and water thieves. No money for law enforcement.
Bonus! I like the smell of weed farms, and now, it’s an air freshener.
‘This is not half of the Story, it has destroyed our County”
How exactly has cannabis destroyed your county? Did cannabis firebomb your towns or something?
