The forthcoming ICE operation is the surest sign to date that the Trump administration is ramping up worksite enforcement.
Federal agents are planning to conduct a major worksite enforcement operation at a national food service chain in the coming weeks, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) document reviewed by The Daily Beast.
The current plan is focused on employers who exploit undocumented workers by illegally paying them below the minimum wage. The operation will target locations around the country and will likely result in charges of harboring illegal aliens, according to an ICE official.
These people are basically being used as slave labor, said the official, who spoke to The Daily Beast anonymously because he was not permitted to discuss impending operations on the record.
The plans detailed in the document are the strongest indication to date that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are increasing whats called worksite enforcementmeaning, efforts to prosecute people who employ undocumented immigrants. As with all complex law enforcement operations, theres a chance this one is altered or even scuttled. If it does go according to plan, however, it will be the first major worksite enforcement action of an administration that has promised to prioritize this core ICE mission.
The food service industry is a particularly ripe target, with The Migration Policy Institute estimating that about 9 percent of food service workers in the U.S. are undocumented.
According to the plans, the operation will focus on franchise owners who exploit undocumented workers. The agency has already done preliminary investigations and picked targets, The Daily Beast has learned.
ICE is divided into two components: Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), which arrests and detains undocumented immigrants, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which investigates crimes related to customs and migration. HSI agents handle a host of issues, including art forgery, child exploitation, and drug crop eradication. They will also be helming this coming operation.
On April 27, 2015, Farrukh Baigwho owned and operated 14 7-Eleven storespleaded guilty to wire fraud and to concealing and harboring illegal aliens, according to the Justice Department. According to court documents, Baig and several co-conspirators hired more than 100 undocumented immigrants to work in his stores. He then used the stolen identities of Americans to conceal his workers identities. Because the workers were undocumented, Baig and his store managers stole much of their wages and then paid them in cash, below the minimum wage.
Baig and his managers housed the undocumented immigrants at homes near the 7-Eleven stores where they worked, and deducted rent from their paychecks. In all, their scheme lasted more than 13 years. Federal prosecutors said that over the course of two of those years, they stole more than $1.25 million from the undocumented immigrants working for them.
Undocumented workers are uniquely vulnerable to this kind of exploitation because many fear that talking to law enforcement will lead to their deportation.
The ICE official who spoke to The Daily Beast said undocumented workers who cooperate with the agency could potentially be eligible for U visas, which let victims of crimes who testify against their perpetrators stay in the United States temporarily.
Tom Homan, the acting director of ICE, said in a speech last month at the conservative Heritage Foundation that the agency would target more work sites in the coming months. He also said the agency would target undocumented workers as well as their employers.
Not only are we going to prosecute the employers that hire illegal workers, were going to detain and remove the illegal alien workers, he said.
When we find you at a work site, were no longer going to turn our heads, Homan said after the event, according to CNN. Well go after the employer who knowingly hires an illegal alien... but were always going to arrest a person who is here illegally. That is our job.
I’m waiting for the time they target the Satyam type employers. When a fast food franchisee hires a worker, how does he know that the social security number presented is that of the worker’s anchor baby?
But Satyam apparently orchestrated from the central office the use of the same valid SSN and visa for many IT consultants. One consultant at State Farm, one at Allstate, one at Sears, one at Chase Bank, one at some other shop all had the same name, same valid SSN.
Is anyone going to tell me that the successors to Satyam are not doing the same thing?
Ive been wondering that for 9 months now. Just enforcing e-verify would cause many to self-deport, give jobs back to Americans, and put money back in the US instead of Mexico.
Ive been wondering if Ive been had when he didnt start e-verify on day 1.
Might I suggest confiscating the companies assets, including its cash which is all I’ll gotten gains.
But won’t this make the price of vegetables and fruit go up?

Strokes of the cane sound so antiseptic, but I worked with a fellow from Singapore who described them in detail. The cane is made of rattan, a pliable but strong plant soaked in water to make it even more pliable.
The person to be caned is brought to (usually) the roof of a prison where he is stripped naked from the waist down and a leather covering is placed over the upper part of the body to protect the ribs and organs from possible errant cane strokes. The prisoner is then instructed to lean forward on a solid sawhorse like piece of furniture
A martial arts expert then begins to deliver the requisite number of cane strokes on his bare backside. By the second or third stroke, the skin is usually ripped open and a pause is granted while the medic applies an antiseptic. The process then continues but can be halted if a doctor on duty determines further strokes would cause a life threatening injury. This is rare, especially for younger prisoners. The remaining number of strokes can be delivered in later installments or reduced depending on the condition of the prisoner.
Usually it takes a month or more for the skin to heal and the prisoner to stop suffering pain every time he takes a dump. The punishment is highly effective. There is almost no person in the Singapore justice system ever sentenced to be caned a second time.
THIS, is the REAL wall.
Back in 2003+/- ICE raided a chicken processing plant (Sylvest Farms?) here in Montgomery arresting dozens of illegals. The next day there were hundreds of people lined up for those jobs
No, no, no, no....
The wages these cockroaches were “underpaid”, should go straight to the IRS to pay off the back taxes.
Hang the bastards and ship the wetbacks out.
Confiscate all of the bank accounts of the businesses and anyone associated with them.
I’m okay with your idea, to give the “underpaid” (my description, not yours) back wages to the gov for unpaid taxes on invader wages. I just don’t want the creeps who enable the invasion by hiring cheap labor to keep their profits. A good way to stop it is EVerify and jail time for anyone who doesn’t use the system and/or knowingly hires invaders.
I hate to tell you but there has been a sharp increase in these grass crawling invaders coming across our southern border. So much that there is not enough room to house all of them and they are once again getting a "get out of jail free" card and kicked to the curb. We know it as "catch and release".
Until we have enough room to house them, but we don't because DHS funding is too low to build mansions for them to stay in OR we get them judges so we do not violate their RIGHTS they roam our streets, drunk, stealing and raping our teenage girls.
So you can dream on about self deportation. These grass crawling invaders will not leave and are here to take America back from us and until they conquer us without firing a weapon in a declared war, they will keep doing what they do. Work without paying taxes and sending most of their money back to Mehico propping up that country from failing while bringing over their family a little at a time.
I am curious just how many Citizens of these United States are applying for work there.
OR is the work to "nasty" for the snowflake generation and they would never ever think of killing a bird. That is why these places hire illegals because our younger generation who should consider this job as a "starter" job consider themselves ABOVE any work like this and would not get their snowflake hands bloody for a dollar. They would rather sit in M&D basement eating leftovers

Scumbag only got 4 years in ClubFed, but did forfeit the stores.
How much tax money will the self-deporting save? Note that there is no mention of WHICH chain is being targeted. Micky Dee's, Taco Bell, Panda's, BK...
What's that stampede sound I'm hearing? "Run for the Border" indeed...
The Migration Policy Institute estimating that about 9 percent of food service workers in the U.S. are undocumented.
Nine percent? Ha!!!
L
Win-Win! Deport the scofflaws and free up jobs for those who are on government assistance that should not be.
“Nine percent? Ha!!!”
That’s probably true only in places here like North Idaho where the landscape maintenance crews are overwhelmingly Caucasian - nine percent is actually high. In contrast, I’d estimate the Republic of Kalifonistan where I escaped from twenty years ago at upwards of 75% for that type of work.
B-but who else will keep them around until Election Day?
