That thought hit me last night during this Thanksgiving season. The central point of this to me is that all of them lack a spirit of gratitude for what they have been given . . . what we all have been given in this country. What a repulsive attitude to put on display and parade around for others to see!!!! The attitude is, in fact, so repulsive to NFL fans (or former fans), they are walking away from a sport they truly love in droves.
A lesson for the Thanksgiving season: Only a fool is ungrateful for the abundance he has been given. As the song goes, "count your many blessings!"
I went to a family dinner yesterday, and this game was on. My in-laws are huge Patriots fans. When my father in law started telling me what was going on in the game, I told him I was not interested and I was not watching the NFL any longer, and told him why. I told him when the owners backed their employees over their customers while insulting us, I turned them off. He basically just tried to brush it off by saying the owners “just made a business decision.” I responded by saying it was a stupid business decision, and that TV revenue will and is plummeting as a result. He’s not a dumb guy by any stretch but he looked at me as if he didn’t understand what I was talking about.
Only thing is that the NFL supports his behavior, so you know they would never do that.
A fellow FReeper has often posted a chart showing the statistics of murder by race where the race of the killer is known, from 2013. White-on-black killing shows as a tiny fragment of the black-on-black figures, and blacks killed by police, though not shown separately is a tiny fragment of that.
That chart should be blown up to 3 by 5 feet and posted in every NFL and NBA locker room, in fact in any place where substantial numbers of blacks congregate. Because they apparently believe the media BS about police abusing their homies.
America made Marshawn Lynch wealthy not Mexico.
And it basically spits in their face.
What’s worse is that Goodell says and does nothing.

Not going to watch something that insults my values. I don’t watch recent sit-coms or drama that promotes sexual deviancy or immoral behavior. I don’t watch most TV news. I have stopped watching the NFL. I am not claiming moral purity, but the media has de-sensitized our culture to immorality and empty values. I am doing my best not to help them succeed, although sometimes I fail. I guess I am fighting my own private war.
I know exactly what you mean by fighting a private war. I have to admit, I was exasperated, watching my brothers in law and father in law watching the game. (Not to mention my friends still group texting about the NFL goings on) I’m thinking, this organization’s true feelings have been exposed, as to how they really feel about you - the average American - and you still “use” their product. I don’t know why any self-respecting American would continue to watch these people after being grossly insulted.
