To the three UCLA basketball players I say: Youre welcome, go out and give a big Thank You to President Xi Jinping of China who made your release possible and, HAVE A GREAT LIFE! Trump tweeted early Thursday. Be careful, there are many pitfalls on the long and winding road of life!

Should have left them to rot in a Chinese jail.

Their apology sounded sincere and was much more than I expected. President Trump’s reply was fantastic.

I’m wondering if they’ll catch hell back on campus for thanking the president.

Obama left people rotting in jails in Mexico, Somalia, and North Korea.

I believe the President is taking the high road here. There is no harm in doing so.

"Be careful, there are many pitfalls on the long and winding road of life!" Very kind and generous advice from The President of the United States to these young men.

And this is why the first tweet was brilliant. Chess players think through many moves ahead . . . he set it up and now is able to also chalk up a marker on President Xi, as well as shutting the door on the critics of the first tweet. And diffused a really potentially messy affair.
When Clinton was President he publicly called for leniency with the Michael Fay caning in Singapore but didn’t get his way because they DIDN’T RESPECT HIM. Trump goes to bat and he makes himself AND Xi look statesmanlike, BECAUSE China RESPECTS TRUMP.
Trump gains a huge victory over the media and his critics
And notice the other benefit of this . . . LaVar has been SILENCED . . . who else can claim to have done that?
And now you have the juxtaposition . . .
Kap vs LiAngelo when it comes to the near future. Guess which side the African-American mother sides with?
Sometimes I wonder about my fellow Freepers . . . stop with the absolutes in these things . . . we won this BIGLY!

I'm glad president Trump helped these guys out. It blows up the racist narrative put out by the Limousin liberals. President Trump is a man of action who knows how to get things done. Too bad the republican party can't say the same thing.

It blows up the racist narrative put out by the Limousine liberals. You mean there was a racial component to the story? And here I thought it was just a few college basketball plyers misbehaving! < /sarc >

If 0bama had been President, they wouldn’t have been released for something like 444 days. That’s how democrat presidents roll.
