I tend to disagree, I've thought all along that their decision would hinge upon making a political impact and that they'd want a lifestyle city with notable recreational opportunities as well as natural beauty. I've been thinking Virginia Beach, which is very low in this ranking.

FedEx chose Memphis for a very good reason. Good Hub. No 3 day storms.

The decision hasn’t been made, this is just a very thorough study done by a group that specializes in “best places,” and based upon the data they’ve gathered they say Atlanta. Amazon hasn’t chosen anything yet.

If there are political considerations, they may look to a borderline conservative area and seek to “flip” it.
But socialist businessmen are businessmen first and socialists second. They will pick the place that offers the best deal and makes them the most money.

Atlanta? Worst possible choice. Traffic, crime, lousy standard of living. Blah. Good airport though...if you can get there.

Political considerations would have them locating in a state that is “purple,” weak blue or weak red. That would be Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida or one of the rust belt states that Trump flipped in 2016. Deep red states wouldn’t hold much appeal and neither would deep blue states. That is, if political considerations are weighing in on the decision and I think they are.

    Funny...
NOT a HIGH TAX and CLOSED SHOP blue state...

One would think that transportation would figure greatly into the selection and Atlanta traffic is a nightmare.

On paper Atlanta looks great as a transportation hub, although the reality is as not so great as you note.

Atalanta - with politics to match Bezos and traffic to match L.A.

I guess they want their employees to have a long commute time.
I have family in Atlanta, and I’ve never been in Atlanta when there wasn’t gridlock on the highways.

The airport is easy enough to get to if you fly in. The rest of the city, not so much.
