Women bear the heaviest brunt of global warming, and are less empowered to contribute to solutions. A new action plan agreed at the Bonn climate talks aims to reverse this inequality.
The women of the Marshall Islands and the Pacific have been fighting colonialism and injustice for a long time. They bore the brunt of the long term effects of nuclear testing, and women leaders like Lijon Eknilang and Darlene Keju-Johnson brought these issues to the international stage.
For women, fighting for justice including climate justice can be downright dangerous. Last year was one of the deadliest for women fighting on the frontlines for human rights and environmental justice. Environmental defenders are being killed at the rate of almost four a week across the world, a staggering toll that disproportionately affects female activists and indigenous leaders.
At the UN climate talks in Bonn, the cause of these courageous women is being amplified by a host of organisations working on gender and climate justice issues through the Women and Gender Constituency.
To make sure that all climate action will include gender equality, the governments will agree on a Gender Action Plan. In the next two years, the plan will aim to increase the number of female climate decision-makers, train male and female policymakers on bringing gender equality into climate funding programmes, and engage grassroots and indigenous womens organisations for local and global climate action.

Who’s that?
Take away the money (payout), and see how many activists remain...
This is a racist statement. Everyone knows that women AND MINORITIES are always hit hardest.
Wait, did anyone check with the people who are against gender identity to see their opinion on gender equality in climate change?
“Environmental defenders are being killed at the rate of almost four a week across the world, a staggering toll that disproportionately affects female activists and indigenous leaders.”
just wow.
Someone smack al gore upside the idiot’s head.
So being born a woman makes one a victim too? It never stops.
(And yes they've written books about that)
Absurd, of course, but it shows that this climate crap is really about income redistribution, like everything else they do.
They realize that this country will never allow itself to become communist, so they way to do it is to NEVER use the word communist, and to disguise their intentions with nice-sounding words.
That’s Saul David Alinsky.
Yoko Ono claimed woman is the n!gger of the world.
Woeful women of woe
Saul Alinsky..................
You know what?
Women bear the heaviest brunt of prostate cancer too.

Somebody will have to explain to me how it is that the climate can effect one sex more than the other.
Reminds me of Sweden’s “Gender Equal” snow plowing..
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/14/gender-equal-snow-removal-policy/
And hilarity ensued...
Looks like some folks are not so tolerant of smug, finger-wagging liberal “activists.” Now that’s a darn shame...
Ahhhh!! The author wants women to have more of a share of the climate funds. Well, toots, the U.S. is out, so you're gonna have to go to Germany with your hat in hand....
The article has the classic cultural Marxist fallacy of lumping all women into a group. Every woman is an individual.
The author is dangerous and stupid.
