Eating rivals is mostly a cultural trait in the countries around the Great Lakes and in West Africa.
AFAIK, more sophisticated Zimbaweans “only” practice necklacing and/or eat some internal parts.
Not that necklacing is absent elsewhere, Samuel Baker had described it more than a century ago in his riveting book The Great Basin of the Nile.
