George Takei had an out-of-this-world explanation for why so many people were talking about the sexual assault claim against him.
In a now-deleted tweet, the “Star Trek” actor blamed Russian bots for spreading the story after Scott Brunton, an ex-model and actor, accused Takei of groping him in his Los Angeles condo in 1981.

You might be on to something. And I was just about to blame Global Warming for the null string.
He could be right. Doesn’t change the facts though.
The problem with bots is quite real. Most of these twitter storms and internet attacks are simply bot attacks carried out by a small number of players. Many in the Intelligence sector. Many are hit firms for hire. Or just someone with a grudge.

I don’t doubt that. What I doubt - really doubt - is that the Russians would devote even a second of time to deliberately target George Takei.
We have it on good authority that Roy Moore was also attacked by these same Russian bots.
