Because it's fast and convenient.
My old company brought in Keurig because they hired some senior sales guy who was a coffee snob. The old pot of Maxell House that had been there since the 70’s was suddenly no longer good enough. He wanted froo-froo flavors.
This caused our receptionist, a young mom with three kids, to go absolutely ape. “For cripes sakes, the company is tanking, none of us got raises last year, but they just took the price of a cup of coffee in the lounge from 8 to 40 cents per cup!”
I've noticed that if you use the steel mesh filter and good fresh coffee it's much better tasting than using a K-cups. I think the general poor flavor is the result of coffee in the K-cups going stale much faster. Of course, using the mesh filter (which you have to clean afterwards) sort of kills the speed and convenience which attracted us to the Keurig in the first place.
Fresh out of the left wing liberal university systems. Worthless trash at their best.
Granted I use a Tassimo machine, but it is really nice to be able to make a fresh cup of coffee in 3 minutes at 2:30 am at work. It costs just a little more than using a french press or a percolator, but the convenience and lack of mess (all I need do is rinse my cup and toss out the grounds cup afterwards) are a YUUUUGE benefit.
“Ive never understood why people like making their coffee that way.”
Because She Who Shall Not Be Disobeyed wants it that way.

I watch Hannity fairly often, and I don’t remember ever seeing a Keurig ad on his show.
Very true.
With the People being so divided, stepping to either side of a political issue can be very damaging to the brand. It is the natural consequence of the liberals taking to colleges and weaponing the markets and the business environment to support their agenda(s).
Maker of a product decides to destroy product based on unrelated accusations that occurred before the product was even around. Stupidity has no limits.
It doesn’t take an MBA or even a degree to figure it out. Top corporate officers are risk averse, particularly risks that they think will harm the corporate brand. There are many pressure points against corporate brands these days, ranging from lawsuits by individuals for almost any reason, to the class-action industry, to a form of blackmail and extortion by political groups (almost always Leftists), to various regulatory liabilities. All of those pressure points combine to induce cowardice in most corporate officers, who quickly and easily fold like a cheap suit at any threat to the corporate brand. Of course, some corporate officers are also into Leftist politics, and such people have helped drive the whole diversity and globalization movement.
It makes great coffee and every cup is fresh. There are a gazillion varieties of K-cups out there. Some are better than others. It took me awhile to find the ones I liked. And I'm not any more worried about the environmental impact of my K-cups than I am about any of my other garbage.
I can't either. I use a bottom of the line Black and Decker or Mainstays from Walmart. The machines are under $10 and if the carafe breaks, a whole new machine is something like 8 bucks.
It's not rocket science; hot water is run through ground coffee. Heck, in the years before I had a coffee machine I just dumped the grounds into a pot of boiling water and poured the brew through a fine strainer.
Upon occasion here in flyover country our power will go out for a day or two when a storm moves through and power lines go down. I dig out my old camping aluminum perk pot and it always brings a smile to my face.
Silly....it has nothing to do with taste, or expense.
It has to do with cleaning up. Remember, this came to attention when they started getting used in the office setting. The single use cup makes for quick cleaning. No more cleaning out the pot, or dropping ground coffee on the counter. No more of those “You mom doesn’t work here” signs in break room.
At work, I think they are great.
At home, I prefer a french press on the weekends. But I do like a k-cup when I am getting up and catching up before the morning shower.
“Its quick and you can quickly change flavors.”
WTF!! Coffee IS a flavor and if you change it, it’s NO LONGER COFFEE!!
Got that?
