Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who leads the Senate GOP campaign arm, is calling on the Senate to expel embattled Alabama GOP nominee Roy Moore if Moore wins December's special election, the first GOP senator to publicly raise the specter of expulsion.
"I believe the individuals speaking out against Roy Moore spoke with courage and truth, proving he is unfit to serve in the United States Senate and he should not run for office," Gardner said "If he refuses to withdraw and wins, the Senate should vote to expel him, because he does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate."
Under the Senate rules, a vote of two-thirds of the body can expel a Senator. That would be historic the Senate hasn't expelled a member since 1862.

They do this, and they'll be confirming a fact that has been under the surface for awhile: America is no longer a country. It's a collection of balkanized states that just happen to share a continent, and have a common history.
If they do this, what is the point of ever voting in any Federal election ever again?
We knew on 11/9/16 that the will of the people means nothing to the ‘Rats. Now we understand that the will of the people means nothing to the GOP, either. Lovely.
Corey, y’all pulled the trigger too early.

All involved should be forced to resign. If they can’t understand “innocent until proven guilty” then they are too dumb to hold office. Moore has been fighting these A$$Hole$ for years. He will still win and they know it. Thats why they are screaming into the sky!
The GOPe corporate liberals are going wild because Moore isn’t biting.
Sadly, yes: Article 1, Section 5
Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member.
It's a suicide pact, written right into the Constitution. 2/3rd of the US Senate could expel the entire delegation of a state, making that state personna non grata and of no account in making the laws of the United States.
No, but Article 1 Section 5 allows 2/3rds of the US Senate to determine that Alabama will have NO SENATE REPRESENTATION AT ALL.
I believe this will happen when Roy Moore is elected.
If so, why would I, an Alabamian, ever vote in another Federal election again? Why would I obey a single US law? The US would be a hostile foreign country just across the border from Muscle Shoals, Arab, West Point, Phenix City, and Opp.
Thoughtful post, but I’ll make one distinction. Senators don’t represent states. They are at-large, popularly elected politicians from particular geographic areas.
Have you read the Constitution?
You're describing members of the US House. Senators represent states. There are two per state.
Gardner, McConnell & Cornyn out. We need Americans in these jobs, not globalist agents.
Nice fantasy. Their power is now absolute. Only death can take it away, and even then, the Deep State will decide their successors.
Expelled for what? Being elected and not being Yertles stooge?
Oh I guess I missed the expulsion of Bob Melendez and Ted Kennedy and Juan McShamey
Yes. Article 2, Section 5 allows for expulsion upon the concurrence of 2/3 of the members. In the Senate that is either 66 or 67 depending on if the language is taken to mean 2/3 of all members(100) or 2/3 of the members voting(99 since presumably one doesn’t vote on one’s own expulsion resolution. No Senator has been expelled since the Civil War, so I would imagine that the finer points of the constitutional language would inevitably be litigated).
Unfortunately, that 2/3 vote will not be a tough nut to crack. The Democrats plus the technically Independents that are really Democrats hold 46 seats. The GOP establishment only needs 20/21 votes to join with the Democrats to make the 2/3 threshold. That’s around 40% of Republican Senators.
If McConnell wants Moore out, he almost certainly has the votes.
Probably also wanted Trump expelled if he won election as well...
Translated - Moore is the ONLY one in the Senate who meets the moral and ethical requirements and it scares the hell out of them.
Then the voters of Alabama should send him back in the second special election, and the third, and the fourth, ad infinitum.
I am perfectly ok with a 99-seat Senate.
I'd prefer a zero-seat Senate.
Should Moore be expelled that expulsion would unquestionably extend until the end of the current Congress in January of 2019. Even in 2019, it is not entirely clear that the Senate would be compelled to accept Moore should he be returned through election. The most relevant Article 2, Sec. 5 case precedent declined to reach a finding regarding the ability of a previously expelled member to stand for election to the seat from which that member was expelled.
<>Senators represent states.<>
Not since the 17th Amendment.
You can not expell a new senator .
A legal expert on Rush said there is no method system .
Is a lie from Mitchy poo .
