San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was extremely emotional on the sideline after a long touchdown catch Sunday.
After the game, it became clear just why.
Goodwin said on his Instagram page that his wife, Morgan Goodwin-Snow, lost their baby boy due to complications during pregnancy early Sunday morning.
"Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan," Marquise Goodwin said on Instagram. "The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family."
Quarterback C.J. Beathard connected with Goodwin on an 83-yarder that was the team's longest TD pass in 12 years and contributed to San Francisco's first win of the season.
As Goodwin ran into the end zone, he blew a kiss to the sky. He then sank to his knees and made the sign of the cross. While he rested his head on the grass, several teammates knelt by his side.

NFL doesn’t exist. I don’t care what these punks do.
Man, they are pulling out all the stops to try and salvage the NFL ratings. There was the story about how many Philadelphia players pray together, then the military people running out hand-in-hand with some NFL players, and now this. Sorry, I will never watch the NFL again no matter what they do. Their protest is based on lies, and Goodell is an idiot for not nipping this in the bud. There is no freedom of speech at work.
BTW, who were those people in military uniform who ran out holding hands with players? They should be ashamed, and how did it become acceptable for grown men to hold hands? Our military is becoming pansy-fied.
I will pray for the Goodwin family, and I am sorry for their loss, but I still can’t make myself care about the NFL, no matter how many tear-jerking stories the NFL plants in the mainstream propaganda.
I am extremely sympathetic to their situation. Was it necessary to make it a national story? This is extremely personal.
Since I no longer watch these hypocrites, I did not know about that hand-holding routine. Where and when did this happen? That is disgusting. Can you imagine if someone asked a World War II, Korea or Vietnam veteran to hold hands and run out onto a football field?!!
Why tell the public about something that personal and sad?
Now, he and his wife be reminded of it by those ‘fans’ for years again and again.
Some people do not expect or even want privacy.
Don’t care what these low-IQ, low-life, criminal, felon, wife-beating, anti-American, white haters do - unless they just go away, that I would take notice of and applaud.
If you are so upset about losing your child, why aren’t you with your wife, comforting her, instead of playing a stupid game?
Your PHONY grief is fooling no one.
F the NFL
You can still pray for the family and the baby.
Or just be a jerk...
There he goes kneeling again.
I don’t know where it happened. The only reason I saw it was because they played a clip of it during some college football game. Yes, I can only imagine what my father and my father-in-law would have thought of men in uniform holding hands. It’s awful.
Oh wow. Such important “news”.
What would we do without the Communist Broadcast Network?
(Most of us do without that collection of liars every day.)
And EFF the National Felons League.
Oh, NFL, don’t shop in Japan.
They know you.
And I don't see a connection between the loss he suffered and his "emotional touchdown".
1) Replace Goodell
2) Abject apology to the fans for the feckless and clumsy handling of the issue thus far
3) Promise to clarify/modify/enforce rules going forward
None of this will likely happen until off-season meetings. So good luck with that SJW thingy until then. Looking forward to being an NFL fan again next Fall (IF the above 3 things happen)
Ginning up sympathy for these scuzballs? How aout the thousand other babies that were “lost” (murdered) that same day?
Crocodile tears.
I know...too little too late.
I’m sure his primary concern was for his wife, but the other reality is earning a living. I don’t know his contract amount but players only get paid if they suit up for the game.
What’s an NFL?
Next thing you know, they will try to entice Tebow to come back.
