Police have named the man accused of stabbing two people inside the Mall of America during a botched robbery attempt Sunday.
Officials identified him as Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, 20, according to a local CBS report.
Abdirahaman snuck into a men’s fitting room at the Minnesota mall and tried to swipe something from a customer’s belongings while the man was outside the fitting room modeling clothes for his family. But he caught Abdirahaman in the act, and the would-be thief pulled a knife and stabbed him, authorities said.
Hearing the victim’s screams, his family rushed to his aid, but Abdirahaman slashed a second person before they could wrest the knife from him.
The scuffle and ensuing response by police freaked out nearby shoppers waiting in line for their kids to see Santa.

I always take my family to the store with me, put on the new clothes, and strut my powerwalk down the store runway. My family and the other shoppers always applaud wildly at my performance. It’s an annual family fun outing. I’m thrilled to see others are joining in the modeling fun, too.
The other day I saw a map showing where the most recent versions of the black plague were moving to in East Africa. Every country on the East Coast of Africa was getting infected. Except Somalia. It was clear.
My Son In Law is deployed in Somalia now. I sent him the map and said, “Even the Plague knows Somilia is a shit hole.”
