National Republican Senatorial Committee Withdraws Support of Roy Moore
The Weekly Standard ^ | 11/10/2017 | ANDREW EGGER

Posted on 11/10/2017 12:25:15 PM PST by Kevin C

The Senate campaign arm of the Republican Party on Friday severed ties with Roy Moore, one day after the Washington Post reported that Moore had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl and pursued inappropriate relationships with several other teenagers while he was a district attorney in his 30s.

As the Daily Beast first reported, a joint fundraising committee supporting Moore’s election bid and the Republican Party filed paperwork Friday morning dropping the National Republican Senatorial Committee from its list of beneficiaries. The Alabama Republican Party and the Republican National Committee remain linked to the campaign.

Moore has strongly denied the allegations, calling them a “the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation.”

After supporting incumbent Luther Strange in the Sept. 26 special primary, the NRSC initially threw its weight behind Moore in the general election against Democrat Doug Jones.

“Our focus is always on keeping a strong Republican majority in the Senate, and that includes Alabama,” NRSC chairman Cory Gardner said in a statement at the time. “Roy Moore will be imperative to passing a conservative agenda, and we support him in keeping this seat in Republican hands.”

But Gardner changed his tune after the allegations against Moore became public, saying he should drop out of the election if they proved true. The committee’s decision to sever ties indicates they’ve heard enough to withdraw their support.

Alabama Republicans, meanwhile, have closed ranks around their candidate, with many claiming the allegations were a Democratic conspiracy, others diminishing their significance, and some even saying they’d still support Moore even if the allegations of sexual abuse were true.

“I would vote for Judge Moore because I wouldn’t want to vote for Doug,” Bibb County chairman Jerry Pow told Daniel Dale of the Toronto Star. “I’m not saying I support what he did.”

Watching Laura Ingraham's show from last night, early this a.m., and it sure seems she's piling on Moore, also. She stated she supported Brookes. Enough! Enough!

Worrying that it will hurt the GOP? The media will NEVER help the GOP, so move on!

She can't get off Mo Brookes!

Haven’t seen her show. Does she berate her staff on this show as she does on her radio program?

...one day after the Washington Post reported that Moore had...

I guess the word "alleged" only applies if the article is about a suspect and substantial preliminary evidence exists to think that the suspect is actually guilty.

Has the allegation of misconduct been substantiated by any evidence whatsoever? Is there any indication that the allegations are anything other than a politically motivated attack?

WHO THE HECK IS RUNNING THE MOORE CAMPAIGN? The only way to defeat the SWAMP is to go on the offense. Are they clueless? Someone needs to get a message to his campaign that they need to go full barrel against the RNC, MSM and the DNC.

These are nothing but lies against a good man - HE CANT PLAY DEFENSE AGAINST THE ACCUSATIONS. YOU HAVE TO GO ON THE OFFENSE!.

If he wants to win he needs to start attacking them for the corrupt filthy lying POC that they are. This is how Trump won and this is the only way to be the Alinsky rules.

When McPain was being prosecuted for taking money as one of the Keating five, did the senate withhold their support from him or threaten to expel him from the senate...same for Kennedy, same for Melendez, same for a bunch of other of those scoundrels. So, what makes it imperative that Moore either give up or face demonizing when he is elected?? I see one constant here: he is outside the club.

NRSC has been a useless entity for conservatives for many years.

I agree but Moore did no favors to himself or the media with his Hannity interview. Hannity had to help him out with yes or no type questions. Horrible interview.

In one comment you defend your moral outrage against Moore by saying “that’s why we have age of consent laws”, then when you find out he dated girls over the age of consent, you change your line of defense to “just because something is legal doesn’t make it right”.

You are going in circles; - is your problem with Moore that he broke the law or that the Alabama consent laws at the time were too lenient?

Either way, wouldn’t your moral outrage be better spent on some of the countless leftist perps who really did something wrong - rather than the innocent conservative being set up?

Actually, no, he's alleged to have violated the law. I wasn't there, so I don't know whether he did or didn't. My point is that it doesn't matter - even if he obeyed the law, his admitted actions are on their own unjustifiable, without having to weigh the evidence for what is in dispute.

Yeah, I don't want Anthony Weiner or Bill Clinton in power either. But I'm not so blind that I think perversion is only a problem when it occurs in leftist politicians.

“The whole reason we have statutory rape laws is because we don’t think (as a society) that children can consent to sexual activity with adults.”

Who did he have Rape With? No one. And 16-19 are not “Children”.
