President Trump blasted GOP gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie in a tweet Tuesday evening in an effort to distance himself from the Republican's losing effort in Virginia.
Trump's tweet knocking Gillespie came shortly after news outlets called the race for Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who looks to be on track for a comfortable victory.

Oh, he is right there with his personal friend Karl Rove and the village idiot, George Bush Jr. Gillespie did not embrace Trump, kept him entirely out of his campaign. He is GOPe inside and outside. Yes, he is a Never Trumper. And as one, he lost. Now a two-time loser, good riddance.
I’m baffled by anyone who truly wanted to win would hire Karl Rove - oh wait the question answers itself, sorry.
I gave Gillespie all I had. I begged him weeks ago to get POTUS, Trump in his corner and have Trump hold a MEGA political rally in Virginia. I implored Steve Bannon to do all he could to assist and, Breitbart jumped on the Gillespie band wagon, as did the entire Fox News Channel & Fox Business Channel.
I begged the massive numbers of “Trumpsters” in Virginia to support and vote for Gillespie, even though they could not stand him, politically, as the “Mr. Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Bob Corker, Jeff Flake Establishment Republican”.
These folks could not be convinced, and thousands upon thousands of loyal Trump supporters stayed home and sat on their hands.
Virginia can turn “Red” but, only with a “Trump” Republican at the helm like Corey Stewart or Jill Vogel!!! Face it, folks.....the Republican Establishment is dead and buried as a functioning political force, forever!!! Go....Corey Stewart, Go Jill Vogel, Go POTUS, Donald J. Trump!!!
Will the Dem control Virginia? The Virginia Republicans needs to turn conservative....
I don't live in Virginia any more, but did for 19 years. Losers like Gillespie will not win. GOPe is dead and the party leadership need to recognize this and move on.

Exactly right, the GOPe no longer has any political pull, thus as a strategy it is a loser and should be swept into the dustbin of history.

But Jill Vogel did better than GOPe top of the ticket Gillespie — GOPe is a losing strategy.
I've been a Registered Republican for all my voting life, a long time, now 57 years. and when the current GOP decides to support the POTUS, DONALD J. TRUMP, just maybe I'll become a supporter of the GOP, but not now...and this trash group of GOPe I will never support any of them..
Gillespie is a RINO and he never was nice to DJT that I observed and only lukewarm to him. I was hoping the polls in VA. were wrong and he would come out the winner, but when you look at the Counties in VA. you knew it would take a fighter to win that State and Gillespie is a weak professional politician..I hope he hangs it up and
becomes just a private citizen...He lost, time to move on...

My impression was vibrant turnout in this democrat stronghold — despite it being rainy and 45 degrees. And I overheard many people talking about going to vote, and I know they voted for the other guy.

Gillespie received a larger percentage of the Virginia vote than Trump did...
Trump - 44.4% (2016)
Gillespie - 45.0% (2017)

You play the hand that you’re dealt. Both candidates were bad, so Trump backed the slightly less bad candidate. Trump deals with reality, rather the ‘principles’ that the pundits concern themselves with. That’s why Trump gets things done and the pundits don’t.

Trump only got 44.4%.
Loyalty? That guy was not at all loyal to Trump. Trump endorsed him, he never endorsed Trump and that, in part, is why he lost. If you want a Trump endorsement to carry it’s full weight then you need to be there sticking up for him everytime the media and left is bashing him. If he says something controversial stand with him. Them and only then will Trump supporters go to bat for you. Learn or Lose.
Trump is a very positive person and knows how to turn a loss into a win. Remember Iowa? Trump made winning the worst thing Cruz could have done. Trump knows how to win but the Repukes are clueless and too smart to learn.
It would creep me out if that scumbag Karl Rove had his greasy little fat hand on me, I’d shake it off, but Gillespie seems to like it, they sure make a cute couple
