President Trump blasted GOP gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie in a tweet Tuesday evening in an effort to distance himself from the Republican's losing effort in Virginia.
Trump's tweet knocking Gillespie came shortly after news outlets called the race for Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who looks to be on track for a comfortable victory.

Trump was tweeting his support for Gillespie earlier today. Now he turns on him. He needs to learn that loyalty is a two-way street.

It was more of a tweet against the Dem. Gillespie pushed Trump away and campaigned with the Bushes.
Virginia’s GOP has had two tasks for a long time: build a bench of viable candidates; and, learn how to get out the rural vote. Is the GOP establishment dull witted or does it find those concepts threatening to their grip on power?

Gillespie is a Bush guy. Bush this week trashed Trump. Perhaps Bush's lack of loyalty to Trump hurt Gillespie.

Gillespie’s loss doesn’t surprise me. My guess is so many Marylanders have flocked down into NoVa by now that the governor’s mansion will be blue indefinitely.
Had Trump NOT offered support Tweets, today....folks would be screaming that this was the reason for OpenBorder’s/Bushie Gillespie’s loss.

Even if Trump wanted to he can’t drag their deadbeat RINO a$$es over the finish line. Trump needs to focus on primarying these bums. I’ll take my chances with Trump and a Trump Team candidate in 75% of the districts in the country. A total slate of run of the mill lying swamp pubbies will be masacred in 2018.

Trump recorded robocalls to help boost Gillespie’s candidacy on Election Day. In one call, Trump said Gillespie shared his views on immigration and crime and would help “Make America Great Again.” Tweet seems to be inverse of robocall.
