Saudi Arabia charged Monday that a missile fired at its capital from Yemen over the weekend was an act of war by Iran, in the sharpest escalation in nearly three decades of mounting hostility between the two regional rivals.
We see this as an act of war, the Saudi foreign minister, Adel Jubair, said in an interview on CNN. Iran cannot lob missiles at Saudi cities and towns and expect us not to take steps.
The accusation, which Iran denied, came a day after a wave of arrests in Saudi Arabia that appeared to complete the consolidation of power by the crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, 32. Taken together, the two actions signaled a new aggressiveness by the prince both at home and abroad, as well as a new and more dangerous stage in the Saudi cold war with Iran for dominance in the region.
Today confrontation is the name of the game, said Joseph A. Kechichian, a scholar at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who is close to the royal family. This young man, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is not willing to roll over and play dead. If you challenge him, he is saying, he is going to respond.

This is a very dangerous situation of which most Americans are not aware.
Is it wrong to kind of hope they nuke the crap out of each other?
Yep, and we’re upping the Special Ops forces near the Russian border along with Israel holding an unprecedented large multinational military exercises (several countries, Russia excluded).
The war drums are pounding.
“Iran cannot lob missiles at Saudi cities and towns and expect us not to take steps.”
Soooo...if one nation does something to cause destruction in another nation, they should expect to get attacked? Like 9/11?
I agree......pay attention folks
“Is it wrong to kind of hope they nuke the crap out of each other?”
Trump has pulled off a miracle. The princes clandestinely financing terror have been purged. These were relatives of the king and the crown prince. So this is major, as many of them may end up dead, that being the way things work there. What this means is the Saudis have made an all-out, succeed-or-die commitment to reform Islam. Any attempt to reform Islam requires the death sentence, so they are taking a huge risk that the people right next to them are REQUIRED by Islam to stop them by killing them.
All of this is going on while they fight an unpopular, and so far, stalemated proxy war in Yemen. Their military, while impressive on paper, is poorly lead by people chosen for their position in the family instead of their military skills. The entire government is as fragile as cracked glass.
This is the closest we will likely get to changing Islam into something that can peacefully coexist with the rest of us. The alternative is we either fight until they are all dead, we are all dead, or we are made into slaves.
Next up, will probably be a test case carried out in North Korea. If Trump pulls that off then Iran will probably come to heel. If not, then the war will likely expand quickly.
Pretty good analysis senor.
I have always thought that Iran’s over-the-top “it’s the jooze!” rhetoric was a smoke screen to buy them time to develop nuclear weapons, that once finished will be used to blackmail the oil rich gulf states.
Oooh, please, please, please . . . .
Notice pale "green" horse being the color of Islam. I think we are getting close to the final battle.
Nope. But it would be a little hard on the peoples down wind...
I seemed to remember something happening back in June. Wonder if this has been brewing for a while.
This is close to my take.
A big hit to the bastards actually spreading Wahhabism. Somebody in place who is all about business.
The possibility of turning a state that had been pumping much money to terrorists becoming much more of an ally.
Could be a much bigger win than anything most people could wrap their heads around.

Gee, sound like anybody we voted for over here?
Maybe I should move my stocks into a safe haven.
The Saudi’s had every reason to foment rebellion in Syria, 68% Sunni, while Assad is is Alewite (Shia sect). It was at one time a very organic uprising with many Sunni Syrian Army Officers deserting. But...the Saudi’s put their money on ISIS and Al-Nusra -sexier! With that they lost the propoganda war almost immediately.
Likewise in Yemen they are supporting ISIS.
Stuck on stupid!
What is happening in Saudi was all set in motion with Trumps state visit.
Abbas was summoned to appear to the Sauds as well. On Friday, we will start to see executions.
The Princes that are funding ISIS, terrorism, the DNC, the Clintons and Obamas are going down. 500 billion dollars of wealth used to prop up Anti American enemies has been cut off. The huge pedo ring of elitists, like Podesta, is failing apart. Who do you think supplied the children?
One of those the Crown Prince detained is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who is the second largest stockholder in News Corporation.
