Bowe Bergdahl Avoids Prison; Trump Once Urged Death Penalty
NY Times ^ | Nov. 3, 2017 | RICHARD A. OPPEL Jr.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who walked off his Army base in Afghanistan in 2009 and was held captive by the Taliban for five years, was ordered to be dishonorably discharged from the Army by a military judge on Friday, but received no prison time for desertion or endangering troops.

At a sentencing that took only minutes, the military judge, Col. Jeffery R. Nance of the Army, also reduced Sergeant Bergdahl’s rank to private and required him to forfeit $1,000 a month of his pay for 10 months.

Prosecutors had sought 14 years in a military prison. President Trump, who has labeled Sergeant Bergdahl a “dirty rotten traitor,” quickly criticized Friday’s sentence, calling it “a complete and total disgrace to our Country and to our Military.”

I agree with President Trump.

Berdahl is a traitor and should have gotten the death penalty, because he deserved it and as a lesson to others.

Despite my typo, Bergdahl still deserves the death penalty.

He should have been shit, but we live in today’s pansy age, so I would have thought at least 25 years , boy was I wrong. The Army, and Navy have nothing but social justice warriors joining, once it was real , tough men, now pansies who want their free college.

Punish the turds who raised Bergdahl’s rank while he defected to the enemy.

These punishments are nothing and not even a slap on the limp wrist.

This is why the jag off let the traitor go. Sentencing him to hard time would have made him part of the story. Much easier to blame POTUS and continue with his career in the PC Army.

I’ll just go ahead and say the judge did this to spite President Trump.

Letting this clown walk is traitorous.

Words fail me at this treachery.
8 years of obama have reduced our military to a mere shell.
As a Veteran (82nd Abn Inf 71-73), I would like to know the name of ‘judge’ who made this decision. We have servicemen in jail for lesser crimes. West Point ‘Che’ graduates and now this. I’d shoot the SOB

Nance made Colonel in the Obama army.

Bergdahl will probably get his dishonorable discharge overturned when the next democrat gets the presidency and gives honorable discharges to court martialed war on terror vets.

Happened to John Kerry...

This die was cast that day that Obama told Bergdahl’s parents, “I know I speak for all Americans when I say that we cannot wait for the moment when you are reunited, and your beloved Bowe is back in your arms.”

Whatta crock.

I believe Col. Jeffery R. Nance should now be charged with dereliction of duty.

If I understand correctly, the command general needs to sign off on the sentence. With Trump as boss, cannot see him signing off on this sentence. Career limiting and treasonous.
