Bowe Bergdahl, the solider who deserted his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and was subsequently captured by a Taliban affiliate, will not have to serve jail time for the crime. In a stunning announcement on Friday, the judge deciding the case ordered Bergdahl to pay $1,000 from his salary for the next 10 months. He will be demoted to the rank of E-1 during that time and after paying his fine he will be dishonorably discharged. Prosecutors asked the judge to sentence Bergdahl, who pleaded guilty to the charges, to 14 years in prison.

And then the judge says "you'll pay a fine and lose your stripes!"
FUBAR!
I just said the same thing in an email to friends who are retired AF pilots. I suggested the Arctic though.
Hunt this “judge” down and give the bastard the treatment that he deserves for the betrayal that he has committed. Make his life ten times the living hell to which he has consigned the widows and children of those who were killed or wounded trying to rescue that treasonous POS Bergdahl.
He and the judge both need some severe punishment.
I call BS on your statement, bagman.
So now he can go back to his Taliban butt-buddies.
Right from the gitgo it was obvious that Obama was going to let this guy go free. The Judge in the case was hand picked by Obama partisans with the express intent of finding Bergdahl innocent so the fix has been in since day one
The military did everything they could to bring the guy to justice but you can't beat a corrupt judge when he is the one making the decision
I knew the fix was in when he pleaded guilty to avoid having any of the evidence against him exposed in public.
If the American public knew what he had done the judge would have been under enormous public pressure to throw the book at him
Not sure the Obama team prosecution team was all that hot convict the guy anyway
Sometimes the abject unfairness of a horrible decision creates a blowback. One way this could happen is if someone leaks the true details of the Bergdahl case to the public and let's public opinion take its course
As it is, the historical record on of the Obama Admin is going to be favoring traitors, perverts and criminals while persecuting and prosecuting good men and women
.....”I am sure the friends of family of those wounded and killed searching for the POS are having a few thoughts today”.....
Lots of emotions for sure..I suspect true anger Bergdahl got exactly what HE wanted...out of the military and free from any jail time.
However he’ll have a chain around his neck for life as people know who he is. I don’t imagine he’s going to live a life he imagines now or in the future.
...”Those wounded in the course of searching for him need to file a civil suit for damages, in the event he enriches himself from book or movie deals.”....
Absolutely..I suspect they will do just that and rightfully so.
This makes a farce out of the US armed forces.
Guys who served in Afghanistan...particularly those who lost buddies there...most *assuredly* won't forget.
This pig would be wise to change his name after discharge.
So AWOL, along with drugs, gay marriage, and selling our uranium to Russia, voting illegals.....AWOL is now also ok. Im sure the Pope will jump in with his blessing for the soon-released prisoner. We wont have to worry about maybe going to hell, were on the train already, and it left the station.
Just what the Left wants, and that's why they've infiltrated the JAG offices.
Between Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama the higher ranks of the US military have been compromised with perfumed princess and political hacks. If we get into a real shooting war with the Norks or Chinese there will be a lot of dead American military personnel before real warriors are found to command our forces.
The Clinton’s, Bush’s and obama have really hurt our military with their politicization of the officer corp.
Different strokes for different folks.
