Trump: Many people are disappointed in the Justice Department, 'including me'

President Trump doubled down on his call for the Justice Department to investigate Democrats on Friday after a former Democratic National Committee chair acknowledged the party tipped the scales in Hilary Clinton's favor during last year's primary.

Trump told reporters outside the White House that he is “disappointed” in the Justice Department for not investigating Clinton, reiterating that he believes the agency should do something.

“I’m really not involved with the Justice Department. I’d like to let it run itself, but honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats," he said.

“They should be looking at Podesta and all of that dishonesty, they should be looking at a lot of things, and a lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me,” he said.

In an excerpt of her new book, former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile wrote about a deal between Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the DNC aimed at keeping the party financially viable.

The deal wasn't illegal, Brazile wrote, but it "sure looked unethical." The former DNC chair said it “broke [her] heart” to find “proof” that the primary between Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was rigged.

Trump has tweeted several times about the Democratic deal since an excerpt of Brazile’s book was published by Politico on Thursday, calling it “illegal” and bringing back his nickname for Clinton, “Crooked Hillary.”

If he did recuse himself from Uranium One, there should have been an official recusal notice to all DOJ employees and a public statement. It doesn’t exist.

Looks like Sessions has until AL’s special election to go after *somebody* for *something* besides a roach in their ashtray.

You have no way of knowing whether there are ongoing investigations or not. DOJ cannot confirm or deny them. This is the way it is supposed to work.

Sessions has offered his resignation to Trump. Thankfully, Trump wisely rejected it. Sessions has been in office less than 9 months. He didn't get his deputy until April 24, 2017.

Sessions was confirmed 52-47 with one Dem voting for him, Mancin. Rosenstein was confirmed 94-6.

So then Sessions was lying to Congress?

Sessions has yet to issue an official recusal notice in that regard. His testimony doesn’t constitute an official recusal. IMO there was already a Clinton Foundation investigation underway before Sessions took office.

He said... Trump: Many people are disappointed in the Justice Department, 'including me' Your position would be the faithless one.

And once again I ask the question.....Where do you really have a trial for TREASON. Really and seriously ask yourself that. We are not talking about a couple of spies. We are talking about putting on trial a lot of our major politicians. We are asking Trump to put these men and women, including a former president and a former first lady, in jail over selling our infrastructure that can also be made into weapons, that can wipe us out as a nation, to foreign enemies....we are talking treason.

We are talking about a total disruption of everything Americans have trusted in. This probably is not a political or justice system play......is it possibly a military one(look at the people who surround Trump, including Mueller(Marine)). That is the elephant in the room.

Something is coming or this would not have been pushed into the news cycle.... we are being prepared for something and Trumps tweets just might be preparing the people for a Justice Department run around.

Either Sessions has recused himself from all matters Clinton, or he lied to Congress.

You can't have it both ways.

Why hasn’t the President fired Sessions yet? I honestly don’t know. It’s certainly in his power to do so. My hunch has been that to some extent, Trump is not quite ready to come out with both barrels against the Uniparty until he gets tax reform passed. He still has to play nice with them until that gets done. Once passed, I’m hoping he will become more aggressive in this regard. Yeah, it’s frustrating to watch, but Trump is certainly smart enough to know it’s within his power to fire Sessions, Mueller, and all the rest. Trump is not a timid man, and he is a fighter, but he’s also very strategic. I can only assume, at this point, that if he hasn’t cleaned house yet at the DOJ, he has a good reason for it.

Lying about Uranium One? This is a much different case than just Hillary and the Foundation. This is about DOJ and the other agencies that approved the deal. This involves the WH as well. There is no way Sessions would recuse himself from this wider investigation. Eventually, I predict that Sessions will appoint a Special Counsel once Congress holds hearings and the informant speaks publicly. This is necessary to get public buy-in. They must get informed about the facts that are currently being withheld by most of the MSM.

I think this is for public consumption. IF they are already doing something about it he wants to be able to say that he was glad he could goad them into it. At the same time he’s making the case that they are completely independent of him and so WHEN hits against Dems come he can say “I didn’t do it...they never listen to me.” He avoids looking like HE’S the one doing it. It’s not “Trump’s Justice Department”. It’s THE Justice Department is his argument.

So why all the drama?

I kind of liken Trump to a rodeo clown...in a good way. While he's out there taunting the bull (the press and dems)...the cowboys are getting away...Justice and FBI are working like crazy behind the scene.

No actual investigation can be kept fully secret. People get interviewed. Computers and other devices are removed from the premises. The list of activities a real investigation entails is a long one.

With Hillary and other Leftist crooks, there are not even rumors of any investigative activity. Supposedly Podesta is getting ready to be investigated, but nothing has happened yet. And there is no indication that anyone else is even concerned about being investigated.

The ‘secret investigations,’ idea is wishful thinking. Sessions is a genuine disappointment.

How do you define "all matters Clinton?"

Trump had lunch with Sessions on Monday. If Sessions were really the problem, Trump would have accepted his resignation a long time ago.

I watched the recent Senate hearings with Sessions. Leahy asked him if Mueller had interviewed him. Sessions responded with a twinkle in his eye and a smile,"What do you think?" Leahy persisted and Sessions finally said, "No" with a smile on his face. There is a lot going on behind the scenes. Why do you think that Trump made the caveat that maybe they (DOJ) are investigating Hillary?

Many here sound like the kids in the back of the car, "Are we here yet?" I know Jeff Sessions and worked with his office. He will not disappoint. Patience is a virtue. And timing is everything.

"The Republicans in Congress have tied his hand. They told him if he fires Sessions, they will not approve a replacement.

That is true, but Sessions could do the honorable thing and resign. He is not the AG the country needs right now.

I noticed that you correctly used the word "re-investigation". Mueller's FBI investigated the deal for four years. And then the FBI investigated after that to, up to the point where Rosenstein indicted and gave easy plea deals to a couple of low level operators

So if weapons of mass destruction material is sold out of this country by our politicians lining their own pockets putting America in danger and the FBI already investigated and Justice Department and the FBI covered the treason up.....Naturally those agencies are part of the conspiracy. They can not possibly put themselves on trial and anyone believe the trial, nor can judges be used to go after former administration heads that appointed them(and this includes both parties)....who can?

We need to start thinking a little further ahead. Maybe, the spooks and military guys surrounding Trump have already thought this through and have moved on to a solution. Can this be tried in military courts? That is the option my brain keeps coming back to. Sessions is then clean having recused himself and can be there for disruptions that follow....a steady Justice Department head.

The more I think this through the more I am thinking Trump is going to go down in history as a major president....either as a savior of the country or the worst ever. We are sitting on the edge of a mountain today and we are going to topple one way or the other if this is the play...it needs to happen but it is scary.

This is a much different case than just Hillary and the Foundation.

Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation are connected to each other. The Clintons and the foundation are the supposed beneficiaries of the Uranium One deal.

Yes, Sessions has recused himself. Whether he ultimately picks a SP, remains to be seen.

You are ignoring the fact that Trump has been warned and threatened by Congress not to fire Sessions.

Many here sound like the kids in the back of the car, "Are we here yet?" I know Jeff Sessions and worked with his office. He will not disappoint. Patience is a virtue. And timing is everything.

No, actually you sound like the kid wondering when the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy will make a visit.

Grassley might change his mind about that. Grassley does not like the fact that Rosenstein is investigating himself on the U1 deal. Grassley wants a special console to look into U1.
