Investigators swarm terror suspect’s hometown

Investigators descended overnight on the New Jersey neighborhood of the terrorist who went on a rampage in a rental truck along a riverfront bike path near the World Trade Center, killing eight people and injuring 11 others.

Cops surrounded a block in Paterson, the hometown of Sayfullo Saipov, 29, an Uzbek immigrant who was shot by a cop when he jumped out of the truck brandishing fake but realistic-looking pistols and shouting “Allahu Akbar!”

Authorities in Passaic County also cordoned off an area that includes a mosque, some storefronts and several other residences, as well as a parking lot at a Home Depot where the truck was rented, NJ.com reported.

Investigators clad in FBI jackets arrived early Wednesday in a convoy of SUVs and began inspecting the area around the apartment building on Genessee Avenue.

Paterson is home to a large Muslim population and a mosque is near the apartment.

The building’s manager, who identified himself as Ali, told The Record of New Jersey that he rented the two-bedroom apartment to Saipov.

A man who identified himself as the suspect’s neighbor told NJ Advance Media that he often saw Saipov in the neighborhood with his wife and two children.

Saipov, who has since become a legal permanent resident, also has lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tampa, Florida.

He held business licenses for two Ohio-based trucking companies — Sayf Motors Inc. in Cincinnati, and Bright Auto LLC in Cuyahoga Falls, ABC News reported.

He also worked as an Uber driver. In a statement sent to ABC News, the company confirmed that Saipov passed a background check and recorded more than 1,400 trips in six months.

The company is assisting law enforcement with the investigation.

A hometown is the city or town where you were born and raised. Do reporters know anything anymore?? This guy came here a couple of years ago!

Paterson is one of those towns that cheered on 9/11 and yet when Trump talked about this he was called a liar.

If New Yorkers don’t like it, they are the only ones empowered to do anything about it. I’d love to see them pick up pitch forks and torches. Given the way they vote... Schumer, Clinton, Gillabrand, Cuomo, DiBlasio, ...I had assumed they don’t mind these things from time to time.

So what his wife and kids go on US welfare, because he went jihadi? Did this guy work or was he getting the refugee funds? There is no place in Amwerica for immigrants such as this. They don’t move here to become Americans. Islam is an anethma to the US Constitution and western civilization. Islamic immigrants must be banned.

“”Saipov — who is from the Uzbeki capital of Tashkent — entered the US in 2010 through the so-called Diversity Visa Lottery, according to ABC News.””

According to FOX last night, Schumer is the one who put forth the legislation on “diversity visa lottery”... Let’s see him step up to the mic now and crow about his accomplishment!

“”A hometown is the city or town where you were born and raised””

The hometown bit always got me when Chicago was mentioned as obozo’s “hometown.” Everything written about him doesn’t even have him in IL until after college.
Glad I’m not the only one this bothers.

They'd be better off clearing it out with a MOAB first.

Viva diversity, and nothing, I REPEAT NOTHING, will stop NYCs Halloween parade!!!

I want to know how he was paying rent in NJ. Was the apartment HUD subsidized or did he have a housing voucher. I have a hard time believing an Uber driver can afford rent in NJ.

It has since been revealed that Saipov's mosque was also under surveillance by the NYPD.

According to NorthJersey.com, the NYPD has been studying the Omar Mosque in Paterson, near Saipov's home, as a possible location for 'budding terrorist conspiracies'.

It doesn't appear that criminal activity has been linked to the mosque but the report says it 'is believed to have been the subject has also been revealed that Saipov's mosque in Paterosn, Omar Mosque, has been under NYPD surveillance since 2005t of federal investigations'.

All mosques should be under surveillance. There is a huge one near Princeton (on Route 1) that creeps me out every time I see it. I hate mosques!!!
