When I had my vasectomy I was consciously sedated with a small I.V. amount of Versed and fentanyl. When I watched the surgeon pull about 3 inches of my vas deferens out of my scrotum to cut it I thought “Wow! That’s cool.” That’s when I realized I was really high. When the I.V. was disconnected I came back to reality quickly w/o any drug hangover and no pain for a couple of hours. Used properly they are safe. Used improperly fentanyl will kill you right now.

I was given fentanyl and versed for my colonoscopy and I felt every inch of that thing. I was moaning and groaning and I could hear the doctor say give her some more and she said I am at maximum dose now. I will not have another colonoscopy.
I think certain medications work just the opposite on me then what they are supposed to. When given a sleeping pill I am wide awake.
I do not like anything that is not natural. I hate even taking a ibuprofen pill when some muscular or joint pain occurs. Regular exercise keeps me pain free in mid-70’s. was just joking about the fentanyl. I even refuse pain medication at the dentist office. There is one huge adavantage in getting old. The nerves in teeth are pretty much dead and atrophied.
For the colonoscopy, I will advise the anesthetist to be sure and not over-dose me. I read that they will give a cocktail of 3 pain killers, one of them is fentanyl. I was joking with my wife that is a truth serum, so please do not ask me any questions hehe..
You have no idea what your saying. I really hope you never need to understand. There is a need for those type of drugs. Are they abused - yes. We used to think it was a larger offense if one innocent man went to prison if one guilty went free. Hence the assumption of innocence. Now it’s everyone is a druggie without thought or logic. Intellectually sad and pathetic.

You are correct! I had one done 10 years ago, and the only bad part was drinking that awful tasting prep fluid.
That is what everyone told me.

Really appreciate your well wishes. I am not concerned. Had one done 10 years ago. And the prep fluid is much better this time...gatorade mixed with some OTC laxative.

Also black tar heroin needs to be stopped. It is horrific.
Virtual has the same or better diagnostic capability as the real thing.
We carry Fentanyl on our ambulances and have for some years.
My mother had congestive heart failure and the doctor told her he could give her a stronger med fentanyl, (she was taking Tylenol with codeine) but it would probably make her die faster. My Step-father pressured her into it, so they told him how to apply the fentanyl patch at home. It was only a day or so and he took her to the hospital and she died. Then four years later my Step-father was having pain in his neck and went to the hospital. They put him on a morphine drip, but he still had pain, so they put a fentanyl patch on him and he died instantly.
Fentanyl patches are routinely dispensed (with a valid prescription) at retail pharmacies.
If 2 mg of fentanyl will kill you then I want 3 before undergoing some of the procedures described later in the thread.
