Meanwhile what I’m pointing out is that Harry Potter books have had a particular behavioral effect on young readers.

Prove it.

There is nothing in Hairy Trotter about wicca. Zero, zilch and nada.

So of course there have been stories about witchcraft for many centuries before Harry Potter.

Really? Who knew!

I would say "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (wicca and black magic) had more cultural effect in this cycle and it was out before the JK Rowling rewrite of Enid Blyton's boarding school (now with magic!) tales. Then of course there was "Charmed" which was being shopped around before 1997 and did include both wicca and other parts of the supernatural.

You can ignore all that came before, that is your privilege. But they still were there. And they had far more influence then you seem to want to admit.

Of course we would have to look at what lead up to the "explosion" and you would find it in just the things I pointed out before. If anything Hairy Trotter is a result rather then a starting point.

I have no problem also holding those other sources accountable.

But why are you so up in arms when Harry Potter is criticized? The intensity of your posts is revealing.

Don’t forget ‘Bewitched’ and ‘The Addams Family’. ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’ was around before Potter. ‘Bell, Book and Candle’ was 1958.
