Cops knew about Sandy Hook shooter’s plot for years

Adam Lanza expressed his desire to commit the Sandy Hook massacre years before the tragedy took place — and when a witness alerted police, the cops said there was nothing they could do.

The Sandy Hook shooter told an unidentified male in 2008 that he had access to assault weapons and planned to kill students at the elementary school along with his mother, Nancy Lanza, according to FBI documents released this week.

The revelation was first reported by the New York Times on Thursday.

The witness — whose name has been redacted from the files — told feds that he had alerted the Newtown Police Department about the disturbing information after being privy to a conversation about the plot.

According to the witness, Newtown police said, “Lanza’s mother owned the guns and that there was nothing N.P.D. could do about it.”

Certainly disturbing.

But we must remember that the police are not here to protect us. That is not their job. They show up after the crime is committed and they file paperwork documenting that the crime happened.

Which is why citizens should carry guns, to protect themselves and others during the commission of a crime by a lunatic.

what crock of shit...someone can be given a 72 hour hold in a psych ward for saying what he said and during that time be evaluated. this did not happen because every one thought it was just crazy talk and to put him in psych ward can break a county financially if they send to many people in that are not dangerously sick witch is what happens with most 72 hour holds.

Not in Connecticut. It is extremely difficult to be put on a 72 hour hold. And that is including when recommended by the local PD. If the hospital has no room, or doesn’t feel you meet the criteria, they discharge you. And good luck warning anyone in this State. If the person is over 18, your hands are tied.

“what crock of shit...someone can be given a 72 hour hold in a psych ward for saying what he said and during that time be evaluated.”

In Florida that is call Bakeracting somebody. The Baker act, as you said, provides for involuntary psychological evaluation. Shortly after I moved to Tallahassee a man called 911 and told them he was going to amputate his leg. While on the phone, he cranked up a chainsaw and did it. The sheriff knew all about this guy. He was clearly a danger to himself and others, but they never Baker acted him. The reason? The law provides for involuntary incarceration, but not who will pay for it. As you can imagine, that severely limits the use and utility of the law. Putting somebody in the hospital is an open-ended commitment to pay their bills. Failing to do so is called abandonment. Perhaps they can get Medicaid to pay. But then somebody has to do all the paperwork and there’s anther cost. I am not sure of the details on how the money works, just that it’s not there, or at least not easily there.

Another reason we should turn in our firearms and rely on the police for our protection. /s

Nice motto.

Court cases say they are under no such obligation.

Yes, the courts also say killing the unborn is ok.

None of the details in this particular story really make sense. I don’t know what really happened with Sandy Hook and maybe we’ll never really know. But one thing for sure is there are a lot of weird things that took place all at one time.

And just me but when you have too many coincidences then it’s not a stretch to start to wonder if that’s not a coincidence.

“According to the witness, Newtown police said, “Lanza’s mother owned the guns and that there was nothing N.P.D. could do about it.””

That’s a non-sequitur.

Whoever is telling this tale is full of it and grandstanding.

Unidentified source...THE witness’ name has been erased...

Isn’t this what qualifies as ‘fake news’ on these threads? If this was a story about our President, would it be given much stock on FR?

Then this story has to be taken with a big grain of salt, if we are to be consistent.

“Another reason we should turn in our firearms and rely on the police for our protection. /s”

That’s what this story is about. It’s baud calmly saying “not doing anything about it” was not going and confiscating the mother’s guns because some guy says something to the cops about her son.

I my youth if the local cops thought us kids were up to something they would pull us over and ask us a bunch of questions just to let us know that they had their eyes on us. That stopped a lot of mischief from happening.

Yes. Total fake news.

Pushes a gun grabbing agenda, though.

Well, they DO say that: ‘once is happenstance; twice is a coincidence, and three times is a conspiracy’.

For what it’s worth.

Anyone can research the official narrative and see that it full of holes. From parents of alleged victims seen laughing before they thought cameras were live, to changing stories of key alleged witnesses, to the chief coroner’s odd press conference, to the apparent lack of internet service at the school for the 4 years before the event, to the lack of access for emergency vehicles, to the fact that no one seemed to have seen Lanza for years. Lots of questions.

They should have made the mother aware so she could have taken steps to secure guns or get rid of them.

I have a buddy at work whose wife worked for me a couple of years who is bipolar and when she is off meds she’s bar crap crazy. I told him about her condition before he asked her out. They married and she was fine for years taking her meds. However she moved her mother in who saw my buddy as a meal ticket and she encouraged her daughter to stop meds.

She soon went off deep end ran up $80k in credit card debt and was trying to poison my friend. He found Xanax in one of his meals. He sought help from medical community, nothing they would do. He finally got her committed for psych evaluation hoping to get her back on meds. Long story short her mom picked her up the next morning and she was released at snap of finger although she was violent and combative with staff, but law allowed mother to gain her release.

Now my buddy just signed away half his retirement, all of his inheritance and a house to this lunatic. Trains chase her and the FBI records all the conversations and everything in their house.

The mental health laws in this country are an abomination.

I agree. Too many weird things happened.

I’ve no idea what the point of it all really was but it is definitely weird especially when you think of so many other similar events that don’t have these irregularities connected to them.
