Trump’s Border Wall Prototypes Unveiled

Towering walls will face a battery of tests over the next two-to-three months.

Nearly a year after President Donald Trump's surprise electoral victory, the first step to fulfill the central pillar of his campaign—a promise to build a wall along the country's southern border—has taken shape along the perimeter between San Diego and Mexico.

The construction of eight prototypes is complete, and they will now face a battery of tests to see how difficult they will be to climb or breach.

Six contractors across the country have met their Oct. 26 deadline to finish work on eight 30-foot models for Trump's border wall in the bustling Otay Mesa border-area between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.

border wallWith the first deadline behind them, the real challenges for the prototypes—the tests to see whether any of them will be used to build the 2,000-mile wall Trump has envisioned—are ahead. Congress has shown little appetite to provide the estimated $26 billion construction of the entire wall would require.

Still, border agents with years of experience patrolling the San Diego perimeter for illegal immigrants and smugglers welcomed the advantages a new border wall would bring.

Standing in front of the towering eight prototypes, agents pointed out that the current system is made-up of ramshackle Vietnam-era corrugated steel landing mats that form the primary eight-to-10-foot barrier between Tijuana and San Diego.

But I thought this was hilarious.

As MSNBC was showing the prototypes for Trumps wall, illegals are jumping the fence behind them.

That’s not part of the wall? It worked very well on the “aliens”.

That’s not part of the wall?

No more "Catch and Release" with a common sense system like that.

And it would give a nice boost to employment at the arms and ammo manufacturers.

We could just load the moat with puffer fish and tell the illegal migrants they’re Delicious. second line of defense.

KTLA reported:

"Customs and Border Protection Acting Deputy Commissioner Ronald Vitiello emphasized that CBP is looking for a “more holistic view” on border security, including cameras, sensors and an enforcement zone in the wall plan. Vitiello showed diagrams of plans for border solutions in both urban and rural areas, which included a “see-through” design, usually a bollard fence, along the immediate border, a zone for enforcement, and then a secondary barrier with the cameras and sensors. The concrete proposals are largely for that secondary barrier, Vitiello said. “All those things have to be combined in the proper mix to make it work,” Vitiello said, saying each location will be evaluated for the different options."

Don’t know why we don’t just do two 14 foot chain link and concertina fences with 60 feet of land mines between them.

Why rely on experimental technology, when you have cheaper, reliable and effective technology that you have already bought and paid for long ago?

To wit, the M45 quad-mount, A.K.A. the famous “Quad .50,” introduced nearly 75 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M45_Quadmount

Mount them every mile along the wall, in towers, and you’ll have overlapping fields of fire. Use Apache helicopters as a mobile back-up, especially if the cartels want to play “Cowboys and Cartels.”

an old proposed idea..put 10 million dollars in escrow payable to Mexican Generals, a million per year, with the proviso that $100 be subtracted for each illegal caught crossing into the US...problem solved in a couple of weeks.

All lethal force elements are prohibited by the requirement for safety of the CBP Officers who must patrol the Enforcement Zone.

Also, the great bulk of current border crossers are not dangerous criminals, but just regular poor folk. Non-combatants.

Don’t know why we don’t just do two 14 foot chain link and concertina fences with 60 feet of land mines between them.

During a second month of a Democrat administration the land mines would be disabled, and the following month the chain link fence would be abandoned to the will of the invaders.

We need something more difficult to disable.

"...Trump's border wall..."

Correction: It's America's border wall.
