George H.W. Bush apologized to actress Heather Lind after she claimed in a since-deleted Instagram post that he sexually assaulted her at an event in 2014.
Presidential First Children Through the Years “President Bush would never — under any circumstance — intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind,” the former president’s spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday, October 25.
Lind, 34, alleged on Instagram on Tuesday, October 24, that Bush, 93, “sexually assaulted” her during a photo op at a private screening of her AMC series Turn: Washington’s Spies in Houston in 2014. “He didn’t shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side,” she claimed in the caption of her post. “He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say ‘not again.’ His security guard told me that I shouldn’t have stood next to him for the photo.”

It seems to me a President’s power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy. He relinquished that power when he used it against me. … What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn’t so different from a President really. I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them. I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character.”
Lind concluded her post by explaining that she turned to her costars and producers for support after the alleged encounter, adding, “I do not respect [Bush].”
The accusation came after a number of women, including A-listers Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, came forward with sexual harassment and assault claims against Harvey Weinstein. The 65-year-old producer’s spokesperson previously told Us that he denies “any allegations of non-consensual sex.”
Did Barbara say Clinton saw Bush Sr. like a father? Maybe it’s like son, like father. As if I feel some need to defend the Bushes not. As for her, she deleted the post, whatever. Fairly indifferent on this. Thanks Bush 41 for your service in World War II.
Touching your butt from a wheelchair constitutes sexual assault?
To me, it reads a bit like maybe he put her hand on her in the photo op; you know, down there. She also claims he made some sort of dirty joke for whatever that might be.
So she participated involuntarily with a dirty old man getting a cheap and rather harmless (he touched me) thrill.
As I have been warning lately, to all men and boys, you can no longer flirt at all, ever. Anything that is in anyway demonstrating any form of physical appreciation of the female gender can and may come back as an incident of “sexual abuse”. Your actions don’t need to involve anything physical, contact wise. You just dare not ever any more appreciate a female, any female, for any reason other than her mind. Any thing else may be dangerous to your legal status.
I can’t believe Joe “Creeper” Biden has gotten away with the outrageous serial leching he does to women and children.

Well, for some reason, GHWB apologized on this. That part doesn’t look good if you did nothing.

Sexual Assault is not the same as rape.
Rape involves the penis.
Reading the apology, it may be, via the Bush spokesperson, it may be for telling the dirty joke, so maybe they don’t deny this part and others may have heard it.
Still, why tell a dirty joke at some sort of event like this?
Who knew that Bush could teach Bubba a thing or two in this arena.

This lady is a freak show. An old man in a wheelchair with his wife next to him makes a pass at her and she has no clue how to handle it?
“Why Mr. President, you do to me that one more time and I will hand you over to your wife!”, as she winks to Barbara and steps away.

Touching from behind? It makes a big difference what form this touching took. Pinching a girls butt is very different than tapping her on the shoulder...but both are touching her from behind.

It’s really quite startling to see so many people defend him and attack her simply on the basis of who he is.
It’s also starling to see people doing this without even knowing what sexual assault actually is or what constitutes it.
If he did what she said, it’s a felony, and I think his handsome wife would do just about the same thing you are doing, and that is help him get away with it.
