George H.W. Bush apologized to actress Heather Lind after she claimed in a since-deleted Instagram post that he sexually assaulted her at an event in 2014.
Presidential First Children Through the Years President Bush would never under any circumstance intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind, the former presidents spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday, October 25.
Lind, 34, alleged on Instagram on Tuesday, October 24, that Bush, 93, sexually assaulted her during a photo op at a private screening of her AMC series Turn: Washingtons Spies in Houston in 2014. He didnt shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side, she claimed in the caption of her post. He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say not again. His security guard told me that I shouldnt have stood next to him for the photo.
Stars Speak Out Against Harvey Weinstein Amid Sexual Misconduct Scandal The Demolition actress continued, We were instructed to call him Mr. President. It seems to me a Presidents power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy. He relinquished that power when he used it against me. What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isnt so different from a President really. I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them. I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character.
Lind concluded her post by explaining that she turned to her costars and producers for support after the alleged encounter, adding, I do not respect [Bush].
The accusation came after a number of women, including A-listers Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, came forward with sexual harassment and assault claims against Harvey Weinstein. The 65-year-old producers spokesperson previously told Us that he denies any allegations of non-consensual sex.
I don’t read it that way. Maybe you do, but I don’t.
He just forgot his comma, and “the” is a misplaced word.. He has no reason to call Bush a douchebag, he’s defending him while arguing with me, and losing.
And I don’t care if he’s going to be deceased in the next 5 minutes. That isn’t relevant to his admitted commission of this crime.
Go ahead and read the article.
He did it. He’s a perv.
lol....You are going to equate getting goosed by George Bush with what Clintoon and Weinstein have done for years?
I will readily admit that I do not like any of them either. No like, no respect.
However, in this matter, that is not my angle.
I’m just looking at what she said, and weighing in my mind is he the type of guy that might do this sort of think as a matter of course believing that he will get away with it because of who he is.
And my gut instinct tells me that he is.
I don’t know who she is, never heard of her before, but I see no reason that she should accept this behavior because is gonna be dead soon.
He wronged her, he did it on purpose, he should be held to account.
I’m sick and goddamned tired of these elitists getting a damn pass.
I’M SICK OF IT!
You are calling me a leftist?!
Whoever you are you need to experience the world more and see what a real leftist looks like.....
Good mercy
never called you one.
“Only a leftist would feel an actor on screen, playing a role in some movie/TV show you like, is the same person off-screen, and who decides to give credibility to someone just because they act?”
Unless you are supporting her because you like her acting and feel she is the same person off-screen that she acts on-screen, that would be a leftist approach.
You are not supporting her because she is an actor, right?
It would appear that every nobody in sight is claiming harassment to claim at least five minutes of fame.
First it was being assaulted at a young age to today’s harassment charges. Sorry I don’t believe half of them.
Notice: Hand on buttock.
If that’s sexual then every baseball coach in the country sexually harasses his team.
Amazing how it distracts from serious stuff like Weinstein making sex bribery a requirement for employment though...
No, only if it makes them uncomfortable. No self-respecting jock would admit that.
You're thinking of Sandusky and other sports queers.
OMG! A guy in a wheelchair is touching someone on the buttock! Sexual assault! He touched a woman in public! How disgusting! How...CRIMINAL!
< / sarcasm >
Bush should have hired a whore. Hitting on innocent women is trashy...
I’ve seen elderly dementia sufferers do things like that, some things even worse like one old man exposing himself.
