GOP Sen. Jeff Flake isn’t ruling out a primary challenge to President Trump in 2020.
“I won’t go there. That’s a long time away,” the Arizona senator told CNN, when asked if he or another Republican should oppose Trump in the next election. “It’s early. Time will take care of itself.”
Flake announced that he would not be seeking re-election on Tuesday in an emotional speech that sharply criticized Trump and his leadership.
After the speech, he told CNN that Republicans like himself, who are willing to criticize the president, have a “narrow path” to election.
“I would have to run a campaign that I couldn’t be proud of,” he said. “And I chose not do that.”
Flake, who said he believes the president is setting a bad example for children, called out Trump for tweeting at foreign leaders and referring to Democrats as “losers or clowns.”

It’s going to be another 2020 Presidential circus - GOPe vs PRESIDENT TRUMP.
If Flake wins the nomination in 2020 I will,for the first time in my life,leave the "President" line on my ballot blank.
Flake is concerned about that "the president is setting a bad example for children,"--referencing his tweets of terms like "losers or clowns," while he sat in his Arizona Senate Seat and never bothered to call out or condemn the previous Administration, with its chosen 2016 Presidential Candidate referring to citizens who supported her opponent as "deplorables" and "unredeemable."
Oh, these are not casual and loose terms like "losers or clowns," but Clinton's insulting and demeaning terms were intended to inflict upon millions of American citizens who supported Trump an eternal damnation simply for preferring another candidate.
Where was Flake when Obama was attempting to degrade his opponents with polite, but caustic and severe, terms intended to divide and influence honest and substantive debate?
Who’s going to throw a pallet full o’ cash at Jeff when he was losing big in this sort of a local race?
Maybe he expects the Mormon elders to write most the checks out of loyalty. Mitt, Beck and Harry Reid will all demand it!
Flake has a good strong 18% of republican support in Arizona.
