Before leading the New England Patriots to a 23-7 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, star quarterback Tom Brady put his pregame routine on hold to recognize the men and women of the U.S. military.

Roughly 200 members of the military were honored on the field prior to the game. Brady and wide receiver Chris Hogan made sure to pay their respects in the form of high-fives.

When does this happen? Sometime after the super bowl when fans are asked to renew their season tickets?

"I'm not buying the "mother was ill" story."

What a prince among men.

Tom's mom was at the game yesterday, according to a news article I just saw and doing quite well. So she wasn't exactly on her deathbed when the team went to the White House in April (which would have been understandable if that was the case).

Let's face it, Tom was likely pressured not to go to the White House visit and having a mom with cancer provided a cover story that most people would not challenge.

If I was Tom Brady in that situation, I'd have my family schedule the birthday party for later in the day. Visiting the White House is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Any reasonable family would understand. My mother would give me hell if I gave up meeting President Trump in order to go to her birthday party (especially when I could have easily scheduled the party around it).

I mean C'mon, Tom's a jetsetter. I remember one time he was at the Kentucky Derby in the afternoon and then in Vegas later that night for a Mayweather boxing match. He could easily have been at the White House with the team and be home with his family by dinnertime to celebrate his mom's birthday in style.

What if his mom's birthday was on a game day. Do you think he would told Belichick he had other priorities and that he would have to miss the game? Or would he have scheduled the birthday party around the game? I rest my case.

Listen, I like Tom overall but the way he handled the White House visit was rather lame. I think the wife got to him.

As I just posted, Brady could easily have been there with the rest of the team and still had time to celebrate his mom's birthday with her. If they had a game scheduled that day, you'd better believe they would have had the mom's birthday party scheduled around the game so that Tom could play.

Tom not showing up with the rest of the team was a slap in the face to our President and I think he didn't go because he was pressured not to. I'm just not buying the cover story. Sorry if it offends.

Brady understands where is has his bread buttered. The LAST thing he wants to do is be the center of attention.

Belechek would kill him.

Oh. I see.

In your previous post you said it was the "Mom was ill" lie you weren't "buying." Kind of moving the goalposts, aren't you?

What a prince.

Both posts were consistent in that Brady used his ill mom’s birthday party as a reason not to go to the White House. No goalposts are being moved here.

I apologize for the “goalpost” comment, it was cheeky of me. I guess we all can speculate until the cows come home, it really doesn’t amount to much at the end of the day beyond individuals making known what is in their hearts.

No offense taken. I realize I'm taking a bit of a "jerk" position here.

It really eats away at me that conservative celebrities tend to be bullied into silence while liberal celebrities are always pushing their politics in our faces.

There are a lot of celebrities in Hollywood, in sports and in the music business who are conservative but are afraid to stick up for their beliefs because they feel their careers will get ruined or damaged as a result.

I actually feel bad for Tom Brady because I know he is a Trump supporter. But when the media took a picture of a MAGA hat in his locker last year, he was pilloried in the Boston press over it. Do you think they would have done the same if he had a "I'm with her" bumper sticker on his car? I don't think so.

I think Tom has been trying to stay completely out of politics since and I'm okay with that. But a White House invitation to celebrate a Super Bowl victory is supposed to be apolitical. Yet I feel Tom felt uncomfortable about going because he was afraid the media would find a way to tie him to Trump (by bringing up the MAGA hat in the locker again) so he found a reason not to go.

Maybe I'm all wet on this Brady issue. But I'm sensitive to the fact that conservatives are made to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed about supporting President Trump while opponents of Trump are literally worshipped by our corrupt media. Just sick of the double standard and the intimidation tactics being used against conservatives.

Also, I think Brady's wife, Giselle, had a lot to do with his decision as well. Here's an article about how she tweeted support for a Trump protest around the same time as the team visit. Brady is likely just trying to keep the peace at home. But again, the double standard. It's okay for her to broadcast her liberal views but not okay for her spouse to broadcast his.

Though the article does go on to say that Gisele eventually deleted that tweet. So maybe Tom put his foot down and said that if he needs to stay out of politics, then so should she.

Wow.

There are a lot of people who are not paying attention
to what it is the protests are saying.

They are basically burning the Flag on the field.
If they thought they could get away with it, they would do
just that.

They want all cops dead. I will never support BLM.
