Sen. John McCain said Thursday he is holding up President Trump's pick for Army secretary and other nominees partly to get answers about recent soldier deaths in Niger.
McCain, R-Ariz., added the Oct. 4 ambush by ISIS-aligned fighters in West Africa that killed four soldiers to the list of military briefings his Armed Services Committee wants from the Trump administration in exchange for moving Defense Department nominees. The DoD has launched an investigation of the incident in Africa and plans to release the findings to Congress, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, Trump's national security adviser, said Thursday.
The Armed Services chairman has also been pressing Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and the Pentagon to turn over information on a variety of other topics, including Afghanistan and Iraq.
In the meantime, the nomination of Mark Esper, a top Raytheon lobbyist, has languished on the committee's desk since July 25 and McCain said there was no timeline for an Armed Services Committee hearing. Esper was tapped to be the top civilian leader for the largest branch of the military.
"It depends on whether we get the information that we have requested," he said. "I am going to make sure we get the information we need to complete our responsibilities under the Constitution of the United States."

What answers does the senile old bastard want? Obama sent SF forces to Niger in 2014 to help the government there fight Boko Haram. We are also assisting the Nigerian military “train up” the new SF command they have established. Boko uses bases in Southern Niger to launch raids into Nigeria. Obviously, we are going to be pursuing them along with the Nigerian military into Niger. He’s on the Armed Services Committee, he knows exactly why we are there, this is a publicity stunt.
It’s time for a massive letter campaign into McConnell’s office to have McCain revoked out of the GOP. There ought to be a million letters/emails per day hitting their office and just dump McCain.
The Niger deaths have nothing to do with this. If McCain had the information that he supposedly wants, he would just find another pretext to oppose Trump. I can’t believe I voted for this guy for President.

Given McCain’s support of his favorite flavor of Islamic terrorists, there’s good reason to keep him outside the loop. Loose lips sink ships.

Hard to believe a grown man as a Senator makes his decisions based on a personal vendetta rather than for what is good for the country. The Democrats are against everything Trump proposes, so is McCain. He is no different than Pelosi or Schumer.
I think you and I, as well as, everyone here, know that he doesn't care what the "answers" are, he is only interested in doing ANYTHING he can to trip up or stop President Trump.

Just look up the word ‘a**hole’ in the dictionary and you will see a picture of John McCain. The guy is truly a mental case.
