Pushing far-right themes, he wants to cut benefits for all foreigners, reduce bureaucracy and stop the EU having too much say in national affairs -- in common with Strache.
The last time the FPOe entered government, in 2000 under controversial then-leader Joerg Haider, who praised Hitler's "orderly" employment policies, Austria was ostracised in Europe.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~He should get along well with President Trump...
Does Yahoo understand that AFP should have used “whiz-kid” and not “whizz-kid”?
Just sayin’.......
Tu felix Austria...
The Muslims will have to find another country.
Maybe Germany will take them.
Somebody’s lack of familiarity with idiom is showing. That would be “wiz-kid,” as in wizard.
“Whizz” is slang for something else entirely.
Uh-oh, another existential threat to the EU’s carefully-prepared bleeding-heart policies ... clearly this guy must be de-legitimatized before other voters actually start listening to what he has to say ...
so, time for the Great Euro-Media Smear Machine to rev up and paint Kurz as the second coming of Hitler in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ....
expect lots of references to the “far right” or “extreme right” in the next few weeks
:-(
Trump effect?
Proportional representation helps create non-majority parties and coalitions of fractured parties, just in order to govern.
You would think it would reflect more democratic coalition governments but western Europe’s growth of its uni-party political elites was brought about with proportional representation government elections in many western European countries. It has worked like Obamacare - getting some rule or agenda enacted after which no true majority arises with which to undo it; so the socialist crap just marches on.
2nd place between the FPO and Socialists is very close.
Sounds like the Socialists are taking themselves out of a “grand coalition” making a coalition on the right the only option.
“far-right” is the label used in Europe for someone who’s only a smidgen to the left of center.
