Trump: 'We Are Stopping Cold the Attacks on Judeo-Christian Values'

President Donald Trump told a gathering of pumped-up Christian conservatives on Friday that he’s keeping his promise to stop government intrusion into people’s faiths and return the country to more traditional values.

“In America, we don’t worship government, we worship God,” Trump declared to a cheering crowd at the Values Voters Summit in Washington. "How times have changed," he added, " but you know what? Now they are changing back again, just remember that."

Trump, the first sitting president to address the Values Voter Summit, cited the promises he's fulfilled, including the revocation of the Johnson Amendment, which prohibited religious nonprofit organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates. He also cited his administration's efforts to allow employers the right to deny women insurance coverage for birth control.

“We will not allow government workers to censor sermons or target our pastors, our ministers or our rabbis,” he said. “These are the people we want to hear from and they will not be silenced any longer.”

"We are stopping cold the attacks on Judeo-Christian values," the president told the appreciative crowd.

In a not-so-subtle jab at the NFL, the president told the cheering crowd that "we respect our great American flag!"

And Trump returned to an issue that apparently causes him great heartburn because he complains about it a lot -- the use of "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

"You know we're getting close to that beautiful Christmas season that people don't talk about anymore," Trump said. "They don't use the word, 'Christmas' because it's not politically correct," he complained. "Well, guess what? We're saying Merry Christmas again!"

Maybe it's time to. also, return the attacks on the people that attack us. We are so politically wrong for our holidays. Maybe Ramadan should be called a fasting holiday for no reason. And why every night of Ramadan, should mosques and aid organizations set up tents and tables for the public to have free iftar meals. If you're going to fast, make it real.And if Ramadan is a time to detach from worldly pleasures and focus on one's inner self, then why are they calling it a religious holiday supposedly to recognize the Quran by Mohammed? Inner self hasnothing to do with him. And why recognize Kwanzaa? Kwanzaa (/ˈkwɑːn.zə/) is a week-long celebration held in the United States and in other nations of the West African diaspora in the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving. It was invented in 1966 by a black radical FBI stooge, Ron Karenga — a.k.a. Dr. Maulana Karenga — founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and later a professor and chairman of Black Studies at California State University, Long Beach. He was also a dupe of the FBI. It isn't a holiday, it's a con. During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, the other major holiday, Muslims commemorate and remember Abraham's trials, by themselves slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat. Maybe it should be called Savage day to commemorate the killing of an innocent animal for no reason. Two should be allowed to play this game. rwood

I always laugh...because Holiday means “Holy Day.” The Happy Holidays greeting goes way back...many late 1800’s-early 1900’s postcards use the greeting...more so than “Merry Christmas”.

Agree with you, though...annoyed that saying Merry Christmas is now somehow offensive.
