The two-star general who heads U.S. Army Africa has been fired and recalled to Washington, amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with the wife of an enlisted soldier, the Army said Friday.
An Army statement provided to The Associated Press said that Maj. Gen. Joseph Harrington was removed from his job due to a loss in confidence in his ability to command.
He is one in a string of senior Army officers who have been disciplined for bad behavior, triggering the development earlier this year of new programs aimed at shaping stronger, more ethical leaders.

I wonder if the punishment would be the same if the players were all homo?

I have a Nephew who was a Jag Colonel. He resigned to work for another agency.
He once told me there were very valid reasons that adultery is a military crime. Not a lapse in judgement but a crime.

amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with the wife of an enlisted soldier Would it have been deemed inappropriate if the relationship had been with an officer's wife?

That’s good. If they have their 20 years in you cut them off with a lower rank. That way you honor their service as well as punish them.

This general’s behavior wasn’t caused by a lack of holistic approaches to relieving stress. (paraphrased from article)
It was caused by a complete lack of character and leadership.

“more ethical” in a pro-homo, pro-tranny US military?

I’m sorry, but the guy has the face of a drunken first sergeant.
Harrington, a New Jersey native who became an Army officer through ROTC while attending college in New Jersey, has previously served as deputy commander of the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas, and executive officer to retired Gen. Martin Dempsey, both when Dempsey was Army chief of staff and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Harrington has been assigned to European posts for a total of about 10 years during his career. He spent 2006 and 2007 in Iraq.

dump military pensions...now...make everyone have a 401k which the govt can support...
but hanging that fat pension in front of the noses of some military is like keeping the rats on the ship....we need to loose the rats and the rat food...

Absolutely. But as low as it is to go after another officer's wife, to go after the wife an enlisted soldier... is even worse. They get paid less, don't have as nice quarters, have to salute you...and you repay that loyalty by screwing with one of their wives.
Absolute scumbag.

No more trannies allowed in, didn’t you read that? A while ago. No more Dod paying for surgeries and crap, and re-thinking what to do with the transpervs already in.

Naughty naughty naughty. Will this effect his retirement? I would think he'll lose a star at a minimum.

Probably so.
