Even back in the 6th or 7th grade, I loved that music. So different than the steady diet of Motown, Soul & Beatles (& The Archies) I had grown up hearing. By the time I was old enough, I had heard so much about the film, I was no longer curious.
In the late '60s, I had long since ditched the Beatles, the Archies, etc. and was listening to KWIZ, a station that played mostly "oldies" from the '50s and early '60s. Their target audience was mostly mature adults in Orange County, Calif., then a hotbed of conservatism. But a current hit would occasionally break into their playlist, and one of them was Ferrante & Teicher's "Midnight Cowboy."
“Sullivan Street” by the Counting Crows ... and I’m not sure I can even explain why.
Hi Fatima. Growing up in a big Italian family with tough love and happier simpler times, this song always put a smile on face. It was tongue-in-cheek and certainly comedic. But “Shaddap You Face” by Joe Dolce.

In a more serious light, what reminds me of home is Mitch Miller Christmas songs. I remember when my dad would play them. Good memories of home.
“China Night,” in Japanese...

That cabin I mentioned was owned by my Aunt, a wonderful woman, who loved to dance to this one:
Walkin the Floor Over you - Earnest Tubb
We teased her a lot over the man's name: Earnest Tubb. It just cracked us up when we were ten years old.
How I would welcome to see Aunt Helen dancing to that song again!

There’s a gator in the bushes, Lord, he’s calling my name
