I’m grateful to Rush for all he’s done, but his best days are behind him. When his contract was about to run out last year, I hoped he would call it quits. But I knew his ego wouldn’t permit it. Sure enough, he re-upped for four more years.
There are times when Rush veers from the reservation. I recognize that.
Still, at the end of the day we are very lucky to have a guy that is that effective in disseminating our position on things.
He stomps on Leftist ideology constantly. He nips many problematic things in the bud.
I listen to him, and frankly he has a very good batting record. He is pushing Trump as much as anyone can right now.
He’s not favoring McConnell or Ryan on anything. He is playing it up that they have done absolutely nothing. He plays it up that we are missing a massive opportunity right now, solely because of Congress. And he’s right. I’m very happy he reinforces this. Primaries are coming.
So while I do think some things Rush does over time need to be addressed, he has been a godsend for Conservatism.
I don’t know of one other person who even comes close, and I believe Rush now has something like 27 million listeners.
Prior to and after the election he has had a massive surge in online subscriptions.
There are little things that he shoots down.
The idea Trump is unfit to be president re Article 25.
He has harped on the NFL non-stop.
He has addressed the Weinstein problem, how Hillary and Bill figure in...
He covers a lot of ground.
I am a big supporter of Rush. I don’t always agree, but I’d defend his actions on our behalf stridently.
Folks, we as FReepers bicker. Nobody is going to agree with us 100% of the time. If we can get 95% out of them, we’re damn luck. If we can get 95% out of them when 27 million folks are tuning it, it’s almost miraculous these days.
It is hard to take seriously anyone who preferred Marco Rubio over Donald Trump.
That means you, Limbaugh.
Most are, but some aren’t.
“The Hill seems to have turned totally anti-trump or were they always and I just didnt notice?”
Always hated Trump...nothing new here. Politico is also anti-Trump, but they are not as in-your-face as The Hill, which, I guess, is run by DNC operatives.
“Rush thought Trump would lose. I believe he WANTED Trump to lose.”
Not for a minute...but I guess if you haven’t followed him, you might think that.
“I agree. I got the impression that Rush didnt want Trump to win the primary. I always felt like he was for Cruz, though I couldnt understand why. Cruz always struck me as a greasy weasel - pretty much like a used car salesman.”
Very well put. Yep, Rush likely thought that Cruz would do better in the White House...only problem was getting Cruz TO THE WHITE HOUSE.
Trump won because he was able to connect with WORKING CLASS voters in the Midwest. Take that away and I dare ANYONE here to tell me which states Cruz would have won that Trump didn’t.
In other words, Cruz, like McCain and Romney, would have ‘fought the good fight’ and would have ‘come up a bit short’. For without the Midwest, Cruz would have been a GREAT conservative candidate for PRESIDENT, and would have won, at most, 200 Electoral Collage votes...and likely would have politely been there as Hillary gave her inauguration speech...
“Yeah, Rush wasnt much of a Trumpist before election night 2016.”
He was sufficient on our side, in my opinion, after Trump had wrapped it up at the convention. Anyone listening to his show for those months would have been convinced that Rush was all for Trump.
But, yes, before. Rush really seemed to like Cruz (after he got over his bubble-bath fantasies). It was rough, though, seeing Rush support a candidate who didn’t have a chance in hell of winning (sorry Cruz, but prayer-breakfasts only turn on about 5% of the country).
In any case, since the convention, EVERY TIME I listen to Rush he seems to support Trump. But Rush is paranoid, with justification, about the idea that free speech could be squelched...so he has a reflexive reaction to protect what he considers ‘free speech’, even if that includes giving the finger to your fans.
He did screw up here...hopefully he learns his lesson. For many of us who have followed him, we understand that a flat-out attack on the media regarding the day-before show is his way of ‘apologizing’.
