Limbaugh: Trump's comments on NFL 'starting to make me nervous'
The Hill ^ | October 11, 2017

Posted on 10/12/2017 2:36:29 AM PDT by SMGFan

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday voiced concerns about President Trump's comments on NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, saying Trump should not have the power to dictate who can kneel during the anthem.

"There’s a part of this story that’s starting to make me nervous, and it’s this: I am very uncomfortable with the president of the United States being able to dictate the behavior and power of anybody. That’s not where this should be coming from," Limbaugh said on his show. Limbaugh said he believed Trump's motives were "pure," but he argued that the president's actions were unhelpful in the broader debate on players kneeling.

"Trump is continually tweeting — I know what he’s doing, and I understand why he’s doing it, and his motives are pure; don’t misunderstand. But I don’t think that it is useful or helpful for any employee anywhere to be forced to do something because the government says they must," he continued.

"We don’t want the president being able to demand anybody that he’s unhappy with behave in a way he requires," Limbaugh added.

I am aware that members of the news media listen to one another.

Watch and learn grasshopper:

LOL! My forever favorites were back during the Bush administration when they referred to the appointment of Dick Cheney and his having "GRAVITAS"

Then there was the disparaging comment about Bush being a "Towel snapping frat boy.." that was echoed by all the leftwing news shows...........LOL!

Yes, the media does know how to get it’s talking points in line. And readers and listeners, John and Joan Q. Dimwit, echo them further.

The NBA already has rules in place which essentially dictate that all players stand at attention for the national anthem.

If there are any "conscientious objectors", they are perfectly entitled to do what their conscience dictates—and to face the inevitable consequences from the fans.

So nobody is forcing anyone to do anything. There are simply actions, and there are the consequences of those actions. Period. End of story.

Any professional sports league which is content with costing itself millions of dollars in revenues—and the loss of millions of fans—can permit its players to show their disrespect for the freest country on earth—the country which provided them the opportunity to become multi-millionaires by providing entertainment for millions of (overwhelmingly) patriotic Americans.

So let the chips—and the dollars—fall where they may.

As I mentioned previously, as an NFL fan, al I can say is this to the NFL players, owners, and staff:

I'm glad we were able to sit down and have this little "talk". I think we "understand" each other much better now. Congratulations on getting your heads straight...

I stand corrected. I checked some of the other sources and it's clear to me that they did pick up the story from The Hill.

Shows class. Don’t even think you are the first or that you’ll be the last.

To my ears, Rush was a big fan of Trump from the beginning, and one of the most important voices. He recognized Trump’s genius as an entertainer and communicator, as well as someone uniquely capable of standing up to the media and the overall leftist machine.

Of course, he did not wish to alienate other portions of his audience, such as those supporting Cruz or Rubio. That is just good business. So he said some nice things about their candidates along the way.

On the NFL: I think the key point Rush was TRYING UNSUCCESSFULLY to bring out was that the NFLPA is a leftist tool of Soros, and that Trump should be cautious lest he inadvertently play into the leftist agenda of destroying the NFL.

Give me one concrete example. You may cite the thread and the exact language to support your contention.

Lol! This sounds like a very sensitive subject for you.

You don't hate lies and misrepresentations, especially when you've been in attendance to the events which have taken place?

Rush spent a good part of the program yesterday addressing the misrepresentations of what he said on this subject. It was a simple point. Trump's appeal is to NFL management and owners, not the authoritarian turning of the government (IRS, FBI, DOJ) on the players, as Obama has done to the Tea Party (IRS) and his political opposition (FISA warrants and unmasking).

It's a vision thing. There are none so blind than those who refuse to see.
