Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday voiced concerns about President Trump's comments on NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, saying Trump should not have the power to dictate who can kneel during the anthem.
"Theres a part of this story thats starting to make me nervous, and its this: I am very uncomfortable with the president of the United States being able to dictate the behavior and power of anybody. Thats not where this should be coming from," Limbaugh said on his show. Limbaugh said he believed Trump's motives were "pure," but he argued that the president's actions were unhelpful in the broader debate on players kneeling.
"Trump is continually tweeting I know what hes doing, and I understand why hes doing it, and his motives are pure; dont misunderstand. But I dont think that it is useful or helpful for any employee anywhere to be forced to do something because the government says they must," he continued.
"We dont want the president being able to demand anybody that hes unhappy with behave in a way he requires," Limbaugh added.

No you argued we must protect the flag. I say protect it. It’s been mistreated before your eyes for years and nobody had a problem with it until players decided to take a knee.
Whatever
Rush is getting weak in the knees.
Rush’s recent aphrodisiac affecting his thinking?
The one thing Rush has rarely, if ever, done is made a call to action. He states the way things should be, but he never makes a call to action. He tries never to cross that line. For business purposes that makes sense, but for purposes of making change it is cowardice.
Trump isn’t a coward.
Trump didn't make anybody do anything. He merely tweeted and more people paid attention.
The people paying attention didn't like what they saw either and there are a lot of those people.
With their dollars and their TV remotes, those people, of which I am one, have spoken with basic revenue math:
(Entertainment + Politics) = (Audience/2)
And the NFL, an institution whose mission is to make money from football fans, decided, finally, to open their rule book and re-read what it says about players respecting flag and the national anthem.
All President Donald J. Trump did was to speak from his bully pulpit about the obvious in an effort to help the NFL and its players to regain some sanity.
Works for me. "Please, sir, may I have another."
He has been talking about the RATs trying to destroy football for a long time. I don't think it's possible that he could credibly be blamed for it.
Personally, I couldn't care less if it was gone yesterday.
Personally, imho, Rush would do well to retire gracefully and on short notice.. Steyn awaits as a replacement.
Any player who chooses to kneel or disrespect the flag/anthem during any game, should be denied their salary for that game. The second time they do it, denied two days pay, then on the third time, they should be immediately removed from the field, and fired. Protesting isn’t a part of the paycheck. You can do it on your own time.
Rush backtracked today big time - is doing so again now.
He was trying to say a President in general - as a principle of conduct - shouldn’t tell business owners what to do - “detailed power over people’s behavior.”
But Trump has tried to pressure the officials and the owners and “strongly suggested it.”
Rush misses it. The public support was there already to STOP the kneeling. Not correct that Trump created it. Trump is riding a wave that was already moving before he got there.
Expected Rush to backtrack like this.
How about Michelle Obama changing the entire country's food being served to our children in their school cafeterias?
Was THAT a dictate?

I heard him make these comments and was like Rush WTH! You are about to get a win, push back against the left for the first time in decades, that you have railed and begged Republicans to do and now one does and you doubt yourself? Trump controlling what people say and do? You sounded like the NYT’s and the rest of the drive bys.
Rush you blinked on this one. You are at best on the NFL national anthem issue a band wagoner and at worst a person who doubted his own thoughts. You screwed the pooch on this one Rush.
Lol! This sounds like a very sensitive subject for you.
Whatever willy loman. No sale! :)
The Hill isn’t the only source reporting this. Other sources including Newsmax and Newsweek are also reporting it.
Of course they are, notice the symantics of their articles..............
All it takes is one outlet to post a story then the others pile on with their own interpretations of the original. How many times has Rush pointed that out?
And since you obviously didn't listen to Rush today, he addressed these bogus interpretations and further explained his comments that should be clear to everyone who listened to him...........Including YOU.
And how long before you call for the retirement of Styn as well?
You're a long time Rush basher as well as other notable talk show hosts so I doubt there is anyone who would meet your long term standards unless it was yourself.
I doubt the NormsRevenge talk show would fly............LOL!
