Ten people will be arrested on hazing charges in the death of a Louisiana State University fraternity pledge after a night of drinking, LSU officials said Wednesday.

One of the 10 suspects, Matthew Alexander Naquin, also faces a negligent homicide charge in the death last month of 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver, a freshman from Roswell, Georgia, LSU said in a statement.

From my observation a lot of pressure to join a Frat/Sor in southern colleges/universities. I hope the parents take the frat and the school to the cleaners.

Respectfully, I disagree. At some point, you have to be intelligent and mature enough to either walk away or quit. These kids aren’t in the military and subject to orders. If I’m pressured to jump off a roof, I can either jump or say “screw you” and walk away. I’m not a fan of Frats, but at least part of this responsibility is the individual student’s. Unless he was tied up and forcibly fed alcohol, than the it was his choice to consume.

There was no pressure when I joined, as it was my own decision. There are however, stupid, blood-thirsty “masters” who just do it out of spite or revenge because of what happened to them when they were initiates.’

Yeah. I am good with that. The frat boys are going to have to lawyer up good on this one. I wonder how they will find time to get their studies done while they have to worry about this stuff?

Apparently, the true concept of “brotherhood” was lost of these fellows.

Different one. This instance the kid that died had a BAC of .495 (NOT a typo), according to a local news station in Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

At .445 people die. It takes a lot to get to that level.

By coincidence, on the TV series "Bull" last night, this is exactly what it was about. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence.

When I was in college, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and the drinking age was still 18, we had a similar instance.

One of our brothers decided to do a “Bluto”, drink an entire bottle of Jack Daniels in one gulp. We tried to stop him, but to no avail. Everyone thought he was going to puke it up, but he held it down.

About 1/2 an hour later he went to the bathroom and didn’t come out.

We found him hours later laying in a puddle of vomit, barely responsive. We rushed him to the hospital where he was comatose for almost a week.

No one blamed the fraternity. Everyone, including his parents, thought he was an idiot. They actually thanked us for saving his life.

Times sure have changed. I guess no one is responsible for their own stupid decisions.

I’ve been enjoying “Bull”, although the liberties he takes are a bit fantastic. Wonder how many episodes it will take until he finally loses a case?

“From my observation a lot of pressure to join a Frat/Sor in southern colleges/universities. “

I never felt any of that kind of pressure to join, though I suppose if there had been a frat dedicated to LSD that might have been a different story ...

Not when there are eager attorneys around to help you blame others, still feel like your darling little angel is still pure and innocent while you grieve, and you can get paid.

Yeah. My first thoughts were someone couldn’t type and these people needed to check the story before it was published. Sadly, I was wrong.

Just WTH is so wrong with these kids that they pull these stunts? Have we so idiot-proofed life they think nothing bad will happen when they exercise life-threating idiocy?

A coroner said hospital tests found a "highly elevated" blood-alcohol level in Gruver's body.

We should ban this dangerous drug.

They should arrest the kid’s parents, for letting him rush a Frat when he was obviously unprepared.

(and I’m only being half sarcastic)
