I remember listening for the slugs of steam rattling through the pipes to the shower on our 60’s era Cruiser. You’d get less than a minute of water, step out of the shower for the burst of steam and repeat. That’s if we had water for such non-essential things as showers.
On the way to watch on the CVN bridge, I’d pass the Captain’s Hot Water Heater watch. It was manned 24/7 and there was a logbook to record the temp every 15 minutes.

The ships secretary coordinates the day care in the maternity ward, and arranges liberty call volleyball tournaments and excursions to approved museums. That’s my guess.

I know right? One of my very favorite quotes from that movie is,
"Oh, he'll be done. Real soon."
Don't ask me why. I think it's the delivery.

I was Army...long,long ago.Never ran afoul of the UCMJ myself. However,it wasn't long ago that I found a youtube video in which a Navy petty officer was giving a tour of the ship's brig (IIRC it was a carrier).
And he specifically referenced "bread and water" during the tour.
I'm gonna look for it now and I'll post a link if I find it.

3 days of think about it with near-fasting sustenance seems a good idea for some high-spirited idiots. Especially "cruel and unusual", when regular Navy food is pretty good!

One of my friends was in the Army and he got put on bread and water in the brig on a ship for falling asleep at his post Army? Navy ship? Falling asleep at his post? I knew Marines serve on Navy ships but I don't know Army did.

You reminded me of the power of CPOs before the Zumwalt ‘reforms’ of the early 70s.

Even Holly Graf didn't last that long. Had to look her up....found her in wikipedia. Is an "Admiral's Mast" the same thing as an Army "Article 15"? I assume it is because "non-judicial punishment" was mentioned.

Agreed about leaving it to the chiefs. The CO sounds like a dick. I had several commands during my 24 years in the army and I was blessed with outstanding First Sergeants. I only intervened if the offense warranted a “Big Chicken Dinner” as one of my best 1SG used to say (Bad Conduct Discharge)
