The radicalization of the Democratic Party is transforming everything that happens in America into another battle in our unending culture war.
Is there anything left in American public life that isnt an occasion for political rancor and division? NFL games are now nothing more than crude pieces of political theater. On Sunday even Vice President Mike Pence got in on the act, showing up to a Colts-49ers game then leaving after a few players knelt during the national anthem. Next day was Columbus Day, which the cities of Los Angeles and Austin decided this year to replace with Indigenous Peoples Day, because Christopher Columbus is apparently the new Robert E. Lee. And its only Tuesday.
It should be obvious by now that our culture wars will henceforth be constant and unending; the next battle could be triggered by almost anything. Whether its the reactions (or non-reactions) of Hollywood celebrities to the unsurprising news of Harvey Weinsteins sexual misdeeds or the outraged calls for the repeal of the Second Amendment the instant news broke of the Las Vegas massacre, very little can happen in America now without it being an occasion for an appeal to ones own political tribe. No matter how tawdry or horrifying the news, there is vanishingly little room for solidarity because there is no appetite for it. Not even late-night comedy shows with their shrinking audiences can resist the urge to devolve into partisan political rants.
For all his eagerness to wage the culture wars in his improvised, bombastic style, this didnt begin with Donald Trump. It didnt begin with Barack Obama, either, but a recent study by Pew Research Center found that divisions between Republicans and Democrats on fundamental political values reached record levels during the Obama administration. .. {..snip..}

Large cities can easily be blockaded. The saying, we are only 3 meals away from anarchy could really be changed to 3 meals away from surrender.
>>Nope, it won’t be easy, but, if my neighbor comes across the property line with the intent to do me or mine harm or to try anything to reduce the God-given rights that we enjoy, that’s when the line has been crossed and I have found my hill to die on ...
That’s what most people say. But they won’t cross your line. They will vote you into slavery and they’ll send armed men to cross your line to enforce their demands. They’ll train your children or grandchildren to hate you for your beliefs. They’ll poison your culture until you can’t read a newspaper or turn on the TV or even watch a sporting event or listen to a song.
“You don’t win wars by dying for your country...”
>>What a lop sided war it would be.
Both sides of the ‘War of Northern Aggression’ thought the same thing.. Civilians came out to watch the First Manassas, thinking that would be the end of the argument. So, don’t get overconfident.
I anticipate that ... the liberals that I know don't have the guts to try to do it themselves.
But they won't have as many armed men to send to the NEXT house ...
“The Lefts Sirens Are Already Hinting Our Culture Wars Will End In Another Civil War”
They really need to stop teasing me on this.
Could the left possibly be that stupid? We can hope, right?
>>But, with all war, it is either winning or losing, living or dying.
>>I’ll gladly pull the trigger if threatened.
That’s my point. Civil war doesn’t wait for you to go to war. It brings war to your doorstep and shoots your family. Very few FReepers understand civil war. They all think its going to be some “short, victorious war” where everything is reset to “good” and we are the heroic winners and they are the defeated but gracious losers. They think that our side will fight nobly and with honor and that we will all feel happy when it is over.
“...if my neighbor comes across the property line with the intent to do me or mine harm,...that’s when the line has been crossed and I have found my hill to die on...”
No, your evil minded neighbor will have found HIS hill to die on. Remember what Patton said.....
;^)
While my posting was a bit of “keyboard Bravado” and the implications” of which I first mentioned does include “burying dead 5 year olds” along with a host of other very nasty things that are included with war.
Ignoring them alike the proverbial ostrich with it’s head in the sand doesn’t resolve the problem.
Antifa doesn’t care about our children, they are openly violent against our rights and will do what they are allowed to do.
Only those willing to do what is necessary to prevent “Antifa” like aggression will bring about resolution.
Of course letting the law enforcement process work it out is the proper action. I know I’m not going to fire the first shot but we should show we are willing to do what is necessary if it comes to that.
Ok, that’s fair. I would as well, but do not relish or pray for armed conflict. I don’t think any of us should. I truly hope it never comes to that, but again, like you, am glad we’re better armed.
“There will be no war until the police and the military choose sides.”
Yes, you are absolutely correct. Which is why the 2016 election was so important. When the communist (Soros) Left goes full violence, a Hillary DOJ and DoD would mean massive havoc and death to patriots loyal to the US Constitution.
They were always just that to me.
The weapon of choice in communist countries.
“Civil Wars”are anything but.
Of all the conflicts Man has created, civil wars tend to be the most brutish(See Syrian Civil War) and the effects after the last army has given up the field is long lasting(we are STILL feeling the effects of last one over 150 years ago).
It is because both sides draw from the same resources, technologies and manpower. Those here think it will be a cakewalk should do some more research. If there is another American Civil War, they shouldn’t think it will just be former SEAL teams vs. “the Latte drinkers at Starbucks”
It won’t break along those lines that easily.
Don’t mistake my “bravado” as cheer leading for a new one. My father taught me to never start a fight but never run away from one, neither.
‘or to try anything to reduce the God-given rights that we enjoy, that’s when the line has been crossed and I have found my hill to die on ...’
so if your neighbor happens to think the 2nd Amendment needs abolishing, and votes after that fashion, you take that as license to use deadly force...?
Yes!
Vladimir Lenin nods malignly at the use of Identity Politics.
“Were already in a civil war...just hasnt gotten that hot yet.”
Yes, it has. A crazed Democrat tried to assassinate Republican members of Congress this year and I suspect that it was also a crazed Democrat who killed fifty eight Trump supporters in Las Vegas.
Given that it’s been nine days since the Las Vegas Massacre and the government still won’t come clean about the motive then I am more and more convinced that the motive was political. Announcing to the families of fifty eight people that their loved ones died because of who they voted for is to invite a civil war to start.
Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. Proverbs 26:27 (KJV)
