In the heart of South Beach’s entertainment district, a woman was shot dead by a police officer after causing at least one crash and then knocking a cop to the ground with her car Sunday evening.
Police Chief Daniel Oates said the incident started at about 6:15 p.m., when a woman driving a black BMW westbound on 12th Street hit a Mercedes with two men inside at Collins Avenue after running a red light. An officer who was nearby on foot because he was part of additional patrols for the weekend tried to get her to stop, but she accelerated and hit him, throwing him off his feet, Oates said.
Another officer then opened fire. The driver lost control and then struck a parked white SUV on the east corner of 12th Street and Washington Avenue.

BTW, there was already damage on her car from the previous accidents before it moves forward and hits the cop.
This is of interest to the DC area because she is from Bowie, MD. A local source said she was a student at Temple University and wanted to become a SJW lawyer.

The young woman in question also had an assault and battery charge against her that was never prosecuted for some reason.
Hate to be a contrarian, but from looking at the video, it seems to me that the driver was trying to flee the scene when she was shot. The police are justified in using deadly force to prevent injury to themselves or other people, but they are not legally allowed to shoot at a fleeing subject merely to prevent them from leaving the scene. That said, the cop who shot at her may have intended to prevent her from continuing to use her car as a weapon to harm others. Plus it is very understandable to react to a fellow officer being run down in front of your eyes. A complex case, but not a slam dunk righteous shooting imo.
These days, it is hard to tell when is an accident and what is turning a car into a weapon.
Also, the dead are generally not admitted to the bar.
They can, however, vote for democrats.
Florida recognizes the fleeing felon rule.

She still possessed the weapon and would like use it to harm others.
