NAPA (CBS SF) Wind-whipped wildfires roared to life Sunday night and early Monday across Wine Country, burning building, forcing evacuations and injuring several people.
The Atlas Peak fire was the largest of several wildfires, quickly growing to more than 200 acres near Napa. Meanwhile, the fire near Calistoga had burned several building and sent several people to the hospital to be treated for burns.
Cal Fire said firefighters were battling several blazes in Sonoma County. The largest was in the area of Porter Creek Road and Petrified Forest Road near Calistoga where mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents along Porter Creek, Petrified Forest, Franz Valley and Mountain Home Ranch Rd.
Early Monday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department said fires had erupted at Mark West Springs and Riebli roads in Santa Rosa, at Shiloh and Conde roads in Windsor and at Highway 116 and Fredericks Road in Sebastopol.
The fires had stretched Sonoma and Napa counties firefighting resources to the breaking point. A call for mutual aid was issued to other Bay Area fire departments.

sort of poor local news coverage IMO....just reporters on the ground repeating the same things over and over again and showing old drone video
if this was LA all local channels would have live air shots of the current fire as it happens instead of “older” news
I agree. It’s disgusting how polarized and frankly disrespectful we’ve become. Someone doesn’t agree with us 100% and they must be a moron liberal RINO. Hell, I don’t agree with Trump 100%.
People have died. I have friends and trusted colleagues in the area and frankly at a time like this, I don’t give a $hit what their politics are. It’s about human decency. We see too little of that around here.

670 people missing
Updated 5 mins ago
SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) — Officials say 670 people are missing and 110 people have been found in the destructive wildfires in the North Bay. Officials say 3,500 homes and businesses have been destroyed in the deadly wine country blazes.
Aging wine faster -= that explains a lot. The wine I sample from some of these small western NE producers tastes thin, acidic, and w/o much difference between varietals. They have differences, but so subtle in their characteristics, as do be almost indistinguishable from one to another. Not allowing for adequate aging, so to develop the true character of the grape, explains this.
I’m a great believer in tradition, because the methods developed over centuries - and they work. Like the expression goes - the proof is in the tasting.
OMG.
As always, FEMA is on top of this emergency situation. As always, the great state of Arizona is sending our wildfire fighting resources to help California.
death toll now 21..fires still out of control.very windy again
...but no live reporting
3500 structures lost of counting..8000 firefighters and 50 aircraft

Unfortunately the “most important” news story is about the revolting pig Harvey Weinstein.
Forecasted conditions have worsened. In the interest of life safety, it has become necessary to expand and implement the CalFire Mandatory evacuation for the entire city of Calistoga(pop 5300)
NorCal Fires Death Toll Grows; Napa Valley Wildfires May Be Merging
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) The death toll rose to 21 in the devastating wildfires in Northern California wine country and surrounding communities, as officials feared that even larger conflagrations might be formed by merging fires.
In a chilling warning, the head of Cal Fire said Wednesday he anticipated that at least the two major fires ablaze in the Napa Valley will merge into a single massive fire.
Cal Fire Director Ken Pimlott told reporters the wildfires were a critical, serious, catastrophic event and then he issued the warning.
