Thursday’s New York Times bombshell, which has effectively ended Oscar-winning producer and Democrat super-donor Harvey Weinstein’s career, contains two equally disturbing pieces of news, only one of which the national media will report and explore.
The first, of course, involves three decades of sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein, who has released a broad statement accepting “responsibility” for his behavior coupled with the claim that the Times got some things wrong.
The second bombshell, the one our national media is already sweeping under the rug, is that for twenty-plus years, many in Hollywood believed Weinstein was abusing his power to procure, harass, and manipulate young women, and no one said anything — not even the powerful.
The Times’ story opens with an allegation from former-movie star and strident leftwing feminist Ashley Judd:

While the incident is so bizarre it’s almost hard to believe it happened, as the wider picture fills out of what Harvey Weinstein is like around young women he feels attracted to, the account seems to me completely credible. I still find my jaw dropping in near disbelief, I knew studio mogul types might be bad but to just start playing with his privates in front of a journalist suggests that he is truly in the grip of demented and addictive compulsions. I’m now only surprised he did not become a porno producer, but somehow he managed to make himself into a famous Hollyweird “independent movie” produce of semi-artsy films.

I suppose we’ll soon be seeing all the democrats in Washington gather in front of the Capitol building, and all the liberals in Hollywood gather together in front of the Dolby Theater (formerly the Kodak Theater), and proclaim that Weinstein is innocent and didn’t commit any crime worthy of him losing his job(s), and that it’s all about a republican witch-hunt.
Can’t find the article/blog I read earlier, but it asserts the left is turning on Weinstein to make an example of him, to show other leftists how they can be destroyed if they don’t pony up enough cash for liberal causes.
Weinstein, in his mea culpa, essentially says he is sorry and will direct his attention to unseating Trump, and will fund additional leftist pet-project movies, etc. That is, he is responding to the nature of his guilt...not the harassment, but the money flow.
If he coughs up enough $$$, all will be forgiven by the left, but the message will have been sent.

Good point, he claims to have been a “concert promoter” in his earlier career before Miramax, but I wonder if any enterprising journalists will dig into what he did in his 20s and 30s. I don’t think he was known for Miramax and the Indy-Hollywood-Sundance films before the 1990s, when he would have been 40ish in age, so I wonder what he may have been doing before. Concerts?? Maybe concert promotion PLUS porno films.....????? just wondering....
