[[The second is that, per the sheriff of the Las Vegas Police Department, the shooter had “ammonia nitrate” in his car. Given the peculiar sophistication of this attack — David French wrote about that earlier — one can only begin to wonder what else he had planned. As far as I understand, ammonia nitrate is an ingredient in what we’d call a “fertilizer bomb.” For whatever reason, this person was serious and he was prepared. Hopefully we’ll soon have some idea of his motive.]]

Hmmmm

How much Ammonia Nitrate was found in the car? A trunk full of 50lb bags or a trace residue?

Question for gun dudes.
When a background check is done, does it show previous purchases of guns?
Shouldn’t there be a heads up after let’s say, a dozen guns?

I’m wondering if all of them were registered to him or someone else was in cahoots with him.

“ammonia nitrate” is an ingredient for a bomb and the other ingredient, which I won’t mention, is even more readily available.

So, why not the grander plan. Personally, I think he was winding down on what money he had. A modest gambling win would have bought him another day.

Single mother, hard scrabble upbringing, high achiever, extreme narcissist, fragile ego, two very short marriages, yells at his girlfriend often enough at Starbucks to be remembered by the staff...watching it all gambled away, knowing deep down -knowing he’s a fool.

Ever see narcissistic rage? I have.

He could have easily taken those explosives, filled his plane with it and killed 20,000 people..according to the police they have “Evidence” that Paddock wanted to get out alive..not sure how they know that..every terrorist knows once the cops comes its game over they are NOT getting out alive

First off, let’s get the title corrected — it’s ammonium nitrate. Next, let’s consider what we weren’t told which was the percentage concentration. The stuff that goes BOOM is typically 34% while that is used for fertilizer is a lower concentration. Also, to be explosive the AN is usually combined with fuel oil (ANFO) as was done at the Murrah Building in 1995. That has not been alleged in the Sheriff’s statements when they’ve noted the presence of AN.

It's 'Ammonium Nitrate', and it's just an oxidizer. Did they find a suitable fuel also? Do these people understand basic science? Did they ever?
