Wow. This guy may be brilliant in his work environment, but whew what a disjointed delivery on the tube.
I very seldom see one of these types of experts on the tube make a lick of sense.

They are so used to talking in circles both on the lecture platform and in the faculty lounge that they just can't help themselves when asked to speak out on their specialty. Sort of like congresscritters.

Yes, he said a few interesting things but overall he did not have a coherent argument to explain Steven Paddock. He compared him to the guy who opened fire at the congressional baseball game, but then said that that guy had a definite political strategy to bring about a lot of special elections. It's not clear that Paddock had any political strategy. The doctor did say that based on his age, Paddock probably wasn't motivated by an urge to make a name for himself. So that leaves nothing.
A few times the doctor launched his own political comments, which doesn't seem all that professional, and might have been intended to distract from his lack of insight about Paddock. Apparently Dr. Welner was once a spokesperson for Ross Perot.
