Because I'll tell ya something ... I'm a big fan of Donald Trump, but I am damn sure that if the Democrats controlled Congress right now there would be a major gun control bill on his desk before he leaves for Puerto Rico tomorrow -- and he'd be falling all over himself to sign it.
How about ban full automatic weapons in trade for approving hearing protection legislation. Call it a win-win. Besides, as another FReeper pointed out earlier today, only 175K people have legal permits for full automatic guns so this impact, while troubling vis-a-vis the constitution, it is minimal. Though one should note this is the first time a fully automatic gun was used in a mass shooting. Discussion of legislation should wait 90 days as emotional knee-jerk responses are flawed and regretted.
