Two Nevada gun shops confirmed Monday that they sold firearms to Mandalay Bay shooter Stephen Paddock in the last year and said he passed all required background checks.
It was unknown if the weapons Paddock bought from the gun shops, New Frontier Armory in North Las Vegas and from Guns and Guitars in Mesquite, were used in the casino massacre.
David Familglietti of New Frontier said Paddock purchased a rifle and a shotgun in the spring, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were interviewing the employee who handled the sale.
"The rifle was not fully automatic and a shotgun isn't capable of shooting from where he was," Famiglietti told NBC News when asked whether it was possible the guns were used in the mass shooting.
"He's only shopped there once so it wasn't someone we knew personally," he said.
"We're very sad about the news of this tragedy. We're in the business of selling firearms legally and took all precautions on this sale as we do with all sales. My staff takes their job very seriously and if there were any 'red flags' the sale would have halted immediately."
He added: "All state and federal laws were followed and an FBI background check took place and was passed by the buyer."
Christopher Sullivan, general manager of Guns & Guitars, did not say what weapons Paddock, who lived in Mesquite, had bought.
"All necessary background checks and procedures were followed, as required by local, state, and federal law. He never gave any indication or reason to believe he was unstable or unfit at any time," Sullivan said in a statement.
"We are currently cooperating with the ongoing investigation by local and federal law enforcement in any way we can."

Uh, wonder why he would not pass. No flags, you pass.
Yet, they were never able to find any information about Barack Obama's mentor Frank Marshall Davis.
...amazing
How soon families will be suing the hotel???
White Supremacist Privilege?
His passing FAA checks to obtain his pilot’s license is also peculiar.
Or 0bama’s background. Like he suddenly appeared. No gf’s no friends, nada.
New Frontier Armory is run by a bunch of good-guys and patriots. I’m not familiar with the other outfit.
They never even investigated why Barack Obama used a freaking other person’s Social Security number!!
Of course not. That wouldn't support the narrative.
Proves that every single gun bought at a gun shop in the last 49 years is on a Form 4473 stored somewhere. Ergo, defacto gun registration. Now, much of that data is wrong, but who thinks the Feds won’t accost the original purchaser? I will not take that bet.
And after eight months, Mueller is still looking for a Russia connection to Trump with 16 lawyers billing, er I mean, working full time on it.
I have never understood the compulsion to find “where he got the weapons”. It doesn’t make a hoot of a difference where he got ‘em —what matters is ‘why wasn’t he neutralized sooner’?
This incident was not predictable and not foreseeable.
Yet the caterwauling for more Gun Control was predictable and started early. Felonia Von Pantsuit Tweeted out against suppressors, or as the uninformed say, “silencers”. What a maroon!!
Yeah, I have a couple of toys from New Frontier.
or any mention why ALL obamatard’s records are SEALED in a Washington DC law firm’s vault.
“His passing FAA checks to obtain his pilots license is also peculiar.”
Why?
I asked the same thing: if the coward was on the FBI list...WTF was the FBI doing all this time? Making sure Hoover’s dresses were neatly folded?
How the hell can know what weapons he purchased, where, what time etc?
I thought those records were protected? /S
I thought that by law they had to dispose of them in 90 days.
